The Christening

Hi all, just stopped by to add another chapter...I'm on a roll now and hopefully I will be updating more often and not waiting months before I do.  I hope you all have enjoyed the story so far there is more to come.

 Chapter 31 The Christening

We stopped to each of our houses to grab some things, but while at my house when I went upstairs to get my things together I noticed the light flashing on the answering machine.  I went over to it and pressed play and Shaun’s voice came on.

“Hey Nikki, this is Shaun listen I just wanted to apologize again for going into your house without you being home.  I know it was wrong and I just wanted to apologize again.  I know we haven’t had a chance to talk, but I’m leaving for a month or two to go home and see about my father.  They admitted him into the hospital and so I told my family I would fly out tonight and to get home as quick as I could.  I will call you when I get there.  Take care of yourself and Nikki I do love you.  Talk to you soon, bye.”

I finally realized that I had to break it off with Shaun.  I didn’t want to do it over the phone, so I will wait until he comes back.  Kevin and I are finally moving forward and I want there to be no sneaking around or cheating going on between us.  So as soon as Shaun is back in town I will break it off with him.

finished gathering my things and headed back out to the car.  I got into the car and Kevin had a goofy smirk on his face.

“What?”

“Oh nothing you ready to go sweetheart.”

“Yeah but I’d like to know what you’re smirking about.”

“I was just thinking about when we first started dating and it had been about six months since we started dating.  I asked you to spend the night with me and you tried everything to get out of spending the night with me.”

“I did not, you know you’re exaggerating, I was not scared.  I wanted to know if you were serious about our relationship that’s all.”

“I didn’t want you to think that you could just get the good and there were no consequences for your actions mister.”

“I know what you mean, but by the time I asked you that night to stay with me, I had already had feelings for you.”

“Did you really Kevin?”

“Yup, sure did. I knew I wanted to be with you and not just for sex, but I wanted you to be Mrs. Kevin Rainey and now look us.  I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

“Awww that’s so sweet baby; I love you so much.”

“I love you more.”

Kevin backed out of my driveway and we headed back to our new house.  When we arrived back to the house, Kevin took our things upstairs and dropped them off in our bedroom while I went into the kitchen looking for something to cook for our dinner.  I closed the cabinet door and realized that we didn’t have any food in this house yet. 

I laughed to myself and started upstairs to help Kevin with our things.  Once I was upstairs I went into our bedroom and saw Kevin blowing up the mattress for us.  Standing there looking at him, he struggled a bit with the mattress before he could continue blowing it up. I couldn’t help it, I was laughing so hard at him and he just rolled his eyes and continued struggling with the mattress.

“Kevin, why are you blowing up that mattress?”  I bought blankets and comforters thinking we would be sleeping on the floor.”

“Well I forgot I had this mattress from the last time my nephews stayed with me, so I threw it in the car just in case.  Since I had it I figured I would blow it up and use it for us.  We will still need the blankets for the bed.”
