The small brown she kit fluttered her eyes open in happiness as she saw her mother for the first time. She could also make out a dark figure looming over her mother, purring deep in his throat as he saw her.The kit blinked furiously as she scanned her surroundings. It was very bright in the sky, and she could barely make out giant globs of white looming over. She could see small movement in the tree tops, and she looked closer, to find tiny leaves waving as the breeze whispered to the grass, blowing ever so gently.
A tall brown wall formed around her and her parents. She also saw a large yellow shape far off, past some trees and plants, with various features on the sides. She closed her eyes and let out a small cry to her mother. The she cat gave the small kitten a warm lick, and purred.
She pried her jaws in a tiny yawn as her parents lay beside her, and she could feel their warm embrace on either side of her. The she kit quickly fell asleep, purring in pure enjoyment.
-------------
A laugh escaped her wide jaws as she chased the dark figure running ahead of her. His tail waving frantically side to side. Soon enough they came close to the edge of the wooden fence, and he made a sharp turn. But the victim's chaser was already ahead of his thoughts. She quickly pounced to her side, and let out a grunt of satisfaction as she felt the body fall under her grip.
The victim let out a chuckle and a deep sigh. He smiled and his green eyes flickered with happiness. The figure stepped off of him, and he slowly lunged himself off the ground, laughing a little bit more. "I'm getting to old for this." He grunted.
The small and nimble figure sat down in front of him, frowning.
"You can't be old yet! You're not supposed to be old until I'm old!"The fit tom chuckled. "I'm afraid that's not how it works, sweetheart."
A tall she cat emerged from the shade of the large oak across the yard. She silently sat down next to the dark tom and smiled.
"But soon enough, child, we will be old. And, we might die.." Her voice was dry with sadness. She knew, as long as they had been house cats, they wouldn't live much longer. The small cat gasped silently. She drew back in confusion.
"But, that won't happen soon, right?"The mother smiled and the tom stepped forward.
"Of course not, honey. That won't happen until a very, very, very long time."The little cat waved her tail playfully.
"Good. I love you guys."What she didn't know
Was that life wasn't going to be
how she planned it.**********************************************
