╰☆☆ Chapter One ☆☆╮
╰☆☆ Welcome to Hell ☆☆╮
Damn it!
Damn, this light to hell and back!
Did I mention that I hate bright lights? Perks of being a vampire I guess.
Lucky me.
The light seems to decrease over time as it did; we were able to see. My eyes finally adjusted, and that's when I realised we were no longer in Steve's house.
"Well, shit," I looked at Steve and smirked. "Honey, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore."
Steve completely ignored me. Such a party pooper. His attention was elsewhere. I followed his gaze. Standing before us were two people dressed in navy blue hooded coats.
"You have risked the mortals finding out about our existence." The figure on the right said, who is a man? I think. "Someone must punish you for this crime."
"Agreed," the other figure spoke, revealing her to be a woman. She turned her attention to the man. "There is but one punishment suitable for such a crime as this."
"Wha-" Steve tried to speak but was instantly shut up by the man raising his hand.
"Silence!" the man yelled before the woman regained his attention. "Do we have a ruling on their punishment?"
The woman uttered something, then replied. "Yes, all members agree."
Nodding his head, the man turned back to face Steve and me. "Very well, then. Elysia Bloodvial and Steve Charmstar, we, the Elders of the Grand Magic Council, find you guilty. You both will spend the rest of your lives in Camp Half-Breed."
We didn't get the time to defend ourselves. The woman clapped her hands twice. "Teleportus Camp Half-Breed!"
Well, shit, we're doomed.
Doomed.
As in dead.
Technically I am already dead, but you get the jest of it, yeah?
Before Steve and I could move or even blink, our surroundings instantly changed, as did our clothes. We both were now in light purple gowns. We also found ourselves standing in a dark and damp room; candles were burning in holders on the room's upper corners. Before us was a single metal desk, designs hung on the brick wall behind it, and I didn't recognise any of them. I, however, did notice the five words written on the wall. It read; Welcome to Camp Half-Breed.
Steve shivered beside me. I noticed goosebumps on his arms, and his facial expression resembled my prey before I sucked their life out. Steve is afraid. I know because I can sense his fear; it's almost overwhelming.
Am I afraid? Am I scared? Hell no, this is going to be exciting. I crave a good challenge. I-
My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a door opening. Steve and I turn our attention to the right as a man and a woman enter the room.
"Lights!" The woman clicks her fingers; lights overwhelm the darkness within a second. "Fresh meat," she says, glaring at us with her brown eyes.
"Is it me? Or do you also have the feeling she wants to consume us?" I inquired to Steve. However, again, he ignored me.
Pigtastic.
I noticed that the woman was wearing a dark purple gown tied in the middle with a green ribbon. Half sleeves reveal her tanned skin. "Shall we begin?" she turns to the man.
"Certainly, Professor." The man replied to her before turning his attention to Steve and me. An object appeared around our left wrist with a flick of his fingers. " I have just placed a magic dampener on both of you." Unlike the woman, he wore a green gown with a purple ribbon tied in the centre.
My eyes automatically looked at my left wrist. "Magic dampener?" I raised my hand to examine it further. The band felt like rubber but was strong like metal, and a red light flickered in the middle.
"What's it for?" Steve asked beside me. He was also inspecting his band.
I released a laugh, "Idiot, he said it's a magic dampener. It must block our abilities and magic."
Steve sighed and rolled his eyes, "You don't say."
"We shouldn't need to explain what their purpose is to you unless you're simpletons." The woman said, now standing in front of the desk, with the man sitting on a chair behind it.
The man gazed upon me and then Steve, "I am Mr Spellbinder, the headmaster of Camp Half-Breed." His blue eyes shifted to the woman. "As I can see the seriousness of your crimes," he said, shifting his gaze to the paper on the desk. "I have no choice, Mr Charmstar and Miss Bloodvial," he opened a drawer and placed the paper into it before closing the drawer. "But to place you in the supervision of Professor Moonshadow."
The woman, Professor Moonshadow, smirked, "I'm not so kind or forgiving as our dear headmaster here, so don't think I'll go easy on you."
"If you'll excuse my rudeness," I spoke up, causing Steve to look at me with confusion in his facial expressions. "This is a prison, correct?"
"That statement is correct, Miss Bloodvial," Headmaster Spellbinder replied. Standing up, he pushed his chair in and walked around the desk to stand next to the professor. "However, Camp Half-Breed is also an Academy."
Steve and I exchanged looks, "An Academy?" we both inquired at the same time.
"Why yes, this Academy is our first defence against the shadow dwellers," Headmaster Spellbinder stepped towards us. "One good thing about prisoners is that you're expendable."
"Expendable?" Steve looked a tad shocked.
"Indeed. You see, no one would care if you die at the hands of a shadow dweller," Professor Moonshadow stared at me, "and yes, they can and will kill even you, Miss Bloodvial."
Confusion consumed me. I shook my head, "How? I'm a vampire; these shadow dwellers, they can't kill what is already dead."
Headmaster Spellbinder's blue eyes locked with my green ones. "On the contrary, Miss Bloodvial, that is incorrect. You might be a vampire, but shadow dwellers can and will kill you." I could tell just by the tone of his voice that he was serious.
"What are these shadow dwellers?" Steve questioned. "If they are so dangerous, why hasn't the Grand Magic Council given orders to exterminate them?"
He makes a good point. I mean, these shadow dwellers pose a high threat; that much is obvious. Usually, the Grand Magic Council would take action. Come to think of it, where is Camp Half-Breed located?
"Ah, Miss Bloodvial," as Professor Moonshadow clicked her fingers, candles lit around the room, revealing purple curtains on our left, which opened. "Take a look," she said and pointed to the window.
Both Steve and I walked to the window. What we saw caused us both to release a gasp from shock.
A dark forest of old-looking trees covered the foreground, and rugged mountains rose in the distance, high above the forest. It wasn't the trees nor the hills that had Steve and me in shock. No, it was something much worse.
"What is this?" I inquired in disbelief. "Where are we?"
"Welcome to Camp Half-Breed."
