Alisa's POVAmsterdam, Netherlands
"Alisa, your birthday is tomorrow. If you want, we can go after your birthday." My father said. I had asked him if I could go and see Isabel in France. I just wanted to leave.
"Father, not "we" just me. I just want to go alone, and spend some time with Isabel."
"Alisa, you can go after your birthday. You'll see I sabel tomorrow, and the next day, you can leave with her. It would make more sense if you waited till after." I looked at him, nodding my head. He was right. Just one more day, then my birthday, and then I can leave. All good, hopefully.
"All right. I'll wait till after, but I want to leave right away in the morning." My father nodded and the deal was basically sealed. I would leave immediately the next day after my birthday. Away from here and all the drama. Perfect.
I left and headed towards my room. I crabbed a suitcase and started throwing in some clothes and all this other stuff. As I was packing, my brother walked in and looked shocked.
"Are you running away or something?" He asked. I looked up at him and smiled.
"Father said the day after my birthday, I could leave to France with Isabel. I just want to get out of here for a while, and spend some time with Isabel. And I'm going alone, no one is coming with me." I closed my suitcase and put it under my bed, ready for when I leave.
"Knock Knock." I looked up and saw Esme walk in. In her hands was the dress I had tried on and said was the one. She walked over to me, but of course made sure to make contact with my brother. "Here you go darling. Your dress for tomorrow. Everyone will love it. It looked great on you."
She handed me the dress and I laid it on the bed. Admiring the beautiful dress.
"Thanks Esme. I promise to give it back after the party." I said. She waved her hands and shook her head.
"No no no, you can keep it. I have many dresses already. I need to get rid of some anyway. You just keep it okay?" I looked at her smiled. I really loved the dress, so I couldn't turn down the offer, and she seemed like she was really willing to give it away.
"Okay, thank you." She put on a smile, which made me smile.
"Well, I gotta go. My mother wants my help right now, so I'll see you later." She said, and walked out.
"Well i'm gonna go, just came to check on you." He said, but I stopped him.
"Why did you really come here. You looked like you needed something." He turned around and sighed. I sat on the bed, waiting for him to speak.
"You're going to leave right after your party. You know who else is?" My eyes widened, and I had remembered he was leaving. Leaving for the war. The war. I had forgotten all about it.
"Oh my god. I forgot. So your leaving right after my bithday?" I asked. He nodded. I could stay for a little while until he leaves. Then I'll leave to France.
"When exactly are you leaving?" I asked.
"At night. I want to spend one last night with you guys." He said with a hint of saddness in his voice.
"Okay. I'll stay and then leave after you leave. I wish you weren't going." I said. I walked over to him and gave him a hug. He was my brother, my best friend. And he was going off to join the army. It was a fifty-fifty percent chance of him coming back or not. I wasn't prepared for something like this, and I was hoping I wouldn't ever have to.
