"At least the sky looks the same.", Claire thought.
Everything's different in her new home of Wyoming. Definitely smaller, almost tiny if you compare it to Manhattan. She wonders how she will survive. Hopefully the college isn't too bad.
"You OK, honey?"
Tom McKenzie and his wife Helen are a highly seen Mayor and first lady. Both in their late 40's and pushing on border line grey. They just hope the move will do their daughter good.
"Yeah, it's just small Dad.", Claire replied.
"It could turn out for the best. It's a lot to adapt, but this place might be perfect for you. Also I hear the sushi ain't too bad."
Tom hoped for a smile to appear in the rear view mirror, which Claire obliged.
"I know Dad. Well, at least cousin Meg ought to keep me about. Knowing her she already has our first three months planned."
"She most certainly has.", Helen chuckled.
Cousin Meg did freak out though. The slightly chubby, brown eyed, tainted haired cousin was already by the car door by the time Claire could even think of touching the handle.
It took them 4 hours to off load there entire life's and directly from the house, Meg shoved Claire into her Prius to show her the town.
"You look good!", Meg stated.
Claire DID look good. Long dark redish hair, emerald green eyes, well build. A spitting image of her mother her father would always say, then he would pinch her ass. That grossed Claire out.
"Thanks Meggie! You look amazing as well."
"Yeah, like an amazing potato."
"Well, if you were a potato, you would be a very attractive potato", Claire smiled.
"Flatter ass. So uuumm, how you've been?"
Claire's next words came difficult.
"I'm good, Meg. Taking it one at a time."
"I didn't mean to dig up spiders. I'm really sorry to hear about Dylan."
"It's OK."
"Fuck him anyway."
"Yeah, fuck him."
They exchanged an awkward fistbump as they stopped at a red light. This was Claire's new start. A chance to change her world. No idea how she was going to achieve that, but she's confident. Everything was going to be normal again, or so she thought, because that's when she first saw him. The sun gleamed in her eyes as it reflected off the car next to them. It was a red car. A VERY nice red car. If she remembered Dylan's endless yapping about cars correctly, it was a '67 Mustang Fastback, but what she saw sitting in it was what paralysed her most. She first saw his hand on the wheel that connected with a tattooed arm which led to the rest of the person in a white T shirt with sunglasses, medium black hair and a chin that looked if it crushed walnuts for a living.
"Ohh my God", Claire thought.
This was hands down the hottest guy she's ever seen. He exchanged a look with her that was followed by a devilish grin.
She swore she just pissed herself. She gazed on as the Cherry Red Fastback drove off.
"Who the fuck was that?", she asked Meg.
"That, my cousin, was Chester James Williamson, but everybody calls him Chase. For a lot of reasons and by the looks of it he caught your scent."
"That a bad thing?"
"No, fuck no. You kidding me? That was Chase, that will always be a very good thing, but you should know, he IS the word trouble. Bad boys wear his name on their T shirts. You would be wise to stay clear, but a total idiot to keep away."
"Meg you're probably having a mirage. That was nothing."
Claire hope to God she was wrong.
