Alex bounded into his room, feeling ecstatic. He had not felt this happy before and it was something that puzzled yet pleased him. He went to bed with a smile on his face, thinking about nothing but how to impress Danielle with his training.

The next day, the whole house was woken up by loud carols playing down in the hall. Alex woke up with a start when he recognized the familiar Christmas carols playing. He quickly got dressed and ran downstairs to find Michael browsing through CDs’.

“Mike!,” Alex called. “It’s Christmas already?”

“Yeah!”, Michael said enthusiastically. “You didn’t realize it did you, lover boy,” Michael teased.

Alex blushed and laughed as he helped Michael with the music.

In the meantime, Danielle was woken up by the carols too but she didn’t recognize any of the songs as she never celebrated Christmas with Sam and Lucy. She got dressed and went downstairs.

“Hey guys, what’s that music?”, Danielle asked when she saw Alex and Michael.

Alex and Michael gaped at her incredulously.

     “No way”, Michael gasped.

“You don’t know these songs?” Alex pointed to the ghetto blaster which was playing the carols.

“Not really, should I?”, Danielle frowned.

“You don’t know what day it is today, don’t you?”, Michael asked sympathetically.

“It’s Christmas”, Alex said when Danielle shook her head.

“Oh I seen people celebrate in on television!”, Danielle said and they groaned.

“It’s Christmas already?”, Charles asked as he came downstairs. “Well you kids have fun. Merry Christmas”, he smiled and went out.

“Same to you, boss”, they said simultaneously.

“Well since its Christmas, let’s go downtown!”, Michael said.

“What about my training?”, Danielle asked, trying not to sound disappointed.

“It can wait”, Alex said, much to her surprise. “Today we teach you all about what’s there to enjoy about Christmas”, Alex continued as he turned off the ghetto blaster and they went into the car.

Michael drove as Alex thought Danielle some Christmas carols in the back of the car.

“How did you grow up without hearing Jingle Bells?”, Alex asked Danielle.

“Yeah and Merry Christmas?”, Michael put in.

“Well…not the same way as you guys, I suppose”, Danielle shrugged. “I told you I heard a few lines of those songs on TV.”

“Not today”, Alex grinned as they pulled over in the parking lot at a major supermarket.

They spent the whole day at the supermarket and Danielle couldn’t remember the last time she had so much fun. Michael had brought along his camera and they took many pictures together with the Christmas decorations.

They went into a restaurant to have lunch and Alex said, “Hey Mike, guessed what?”

Michael nodded upwards, a sign language to ask ‘what?’ as he drank his root beer.

“Danielle’s my new girlfriend”, Alex smiled and squeezed her hand.

     Michael almost spewed his soda.
