AFTER COLLEGE

It was 12:30, I guess. I took out my bicycle keys, and screwed it into the rusty old lock, which was about to broke. I left the college. The muddy roads, splashed their wet, sticky water on my shirt as I didn't have any mudguard on the back of my cycle.
I was wondering to write a poem for Ananya, as she had asked me.

' Hey ', a man shouted.
He wore a black leather jacket, with sparkling reflectors on his eyes, he waved his hand towards me. He stopped his bike with a screeching sound. I too stopped. I recognized he was a friend of mine. He took a u turn and came towards me.

' Hi Yash ', he said, as he removed his reflectors.

' Hi ', I said giving a small grin.

' So, Yash ready for JEE?? Well how are your preparations going on?? ', he asked.

' Nothing goes straight in this world, my friend. You have to loose your track somewhere else in this world. May be in dreams, in reality or.. ', he stopped me as I was saying.

' Is it a girl ', he said giving a smile.

' Mmm... I..'.

' Stop it, I know everything Yash...I've gone through this phase ', he said as he started his bike.

' But..wait!!, There's nothing.... ', he stopped me again, as I was speaking.

' Okay bye, Yash, I've got some work to do, but yeah tell me about her. I would like to know ', he said and went.

AT SOCIETY'S BLOCK

I moved through the same old road. Well at the entrance gate of our society, there were two women talking about the situation going on there. They lived in the same building, but on 4th floor.

There was some kind of chaos going on between those truck drivers and the newcomers.  It was a nuclear family. I saw a beautiful girl with her parents, helping each other out.

While I was passing these ladies, one of them called.

' Yash, beta wait ', one of them said. I had seen them before doing those shitty gossips about other people's lives. I never liked it.

Here 'beta' means son, it's Hindi.

I stopped right there,  applying my right rusty brakes which made sound.

' Hello ', I said.

' So how are your studies going on?? ', she said giving an obnoxious smile.

In India every damn neighbour and relative cares about your marks to compare them with some other child. I think they are just made to that. Even the uncles and old grannies of our societies who would never even look at us ' forget about talking ' used to be curious to know our marks.

' Very well ', I said.

' Absolutely, good..yeah that's good carry on like this and you will get a good college ', she said.

' Yeah I know,  and this time, I would score more than Rohan ', I said teasing her child.

Rohan was a studious boy. He was literally a nerd. But yeah he had a shitty attitude of showing off in front of  hotties of our class. I didn't care what the fuck he used to do.

' Wait, tell me how much percentage you got in 10th standard??  ', she said, with sort of anger on her face.

There was a moment of silence. I didn't say anything. I looked around at trees and buildings of our society. We both knew I had scored 60% in 10th. And sadly that Rohan had got 92%.

Well, it is a move played by every other Indian neighbor who wants to show off.

' Okay , go son study hard and... ', she said.

I didn't utter a word, sat on my bicycle and went towards the newcomers.

UNDER THE BUILDING

The girl which was standing there was the hottest from what I've seen in my entire life. Her father saw me coming towards her.

' Wait son, What's your name? ', he said with a pleasant voice.

' I am Yash sir, 2nd floor, apartment no. 1010 '.

They both laughed.

' I am Edward, and this is my daughter Rose, we are shifting to 1011 '.

I saw a silvery Christian cross in her neck.

' Its nice to meet you, sir ', I said and waved my hand towards her saying ' Hi '.

' Listen, Yash.... ', he said and I stopped him.

' It's fine uncle, if you need any help call me, or we have a watchman here. He can do it for you ', I said.

' Thanks, but I didn't see him..'.

' Yeah he will be around somewhere, if I see him I'll tell him ', I said.

Her mother was shouting on those truck drivers. She was a bit rude compared to her father

' Hey, pick it up lightly, that box has my crockeries, you have to pay if you break any of them '. her mother said.

' Like this ? ', he picked up the box giving a disgraceful smile.

I went to the stairs.

' Yash, hi ', Rose came running.

' Hi ', I said delightfully.

' Well thanks for the help ', she said as she removed her hair band and made a cute pony from her hairs.

' It's fine ', I said looking at her hairs.

' I've joined your college ', she said.

' Great, we will go together then !! ', I said.

' I'm sorry, these few days my father will drop me, yeah but you can show your college to me '.

' Yeah, sure I would like to ', I said.

' Rosy ...', her father called.

' Yeah, coming ', she shouted.

' We will talk later yash, bye ', she said.

' Yeah, bye ', I said.

I walked on the stairs with bicycle keys, dangling in my index finger.
