The Wolf Next Door

          I feel the cold metal of the mailbox as I open the lid to get the letters inside. It is quiet where I live. The woods are very lonely, not that I mind. No human lives in the woods because of us, the mythical creatures to be specific. Some humans believe that mythical creatures exist in this world and some don't. This town was the heaviest in mythical activity so they tend to stay away from the woods out of fear that we still live in here. I'm a werewolf; the horrible beast that turns into a wolf on the full moon and eat humans for my own enjoyment.. 

False. 

I'm just like any other teenage girl, I just turn into a wolf when I want to.

          I choose to be a 'human' most of the time so the ogres, witches, werewolf's and other mythical creatures helped me build a small log cabin closer to the town (but not too close because they wanted me to be safe). I would have lived in the house a couple yards away but it belongs to the humans and that would require me to be a human to pay the things called 'bills' and stuff. I got help from a good friend of mine, witch Elanor. She gives me money for food and clothes (not going to ask how she gets human money). I've lived here for three years and I love it, it's nice.

          I hear a van pull up a couple yards away so I look over and see a moving truck park in front of the empty house next door. I see seven males jump out of the van, two males jumping and screaming about how happy they are to finally have a house and the other five walking happily behind them with bright smiles on their faces. They probably don't notice me because of the thick trees in between our houses. The only indication that I live here is the rusty old mailbox near the dirt trail that leads outside of the woods. I quickly gather the letters and run inside to avoid getting noticed. I close the door and sigh.

          "What are humans doing here?" I say to myself pressing my forehead against the door.
