So different, yet so similar... (Naruto/RWBY) (UNDER EDITING)

Awkward...

Quick explanation because I didn't explain it in the story since it's a bigger change and I'm lazy. Due to the uneven teams, the Kage discussed and allowed Yang, Weiss, and Blake to be on a team together. I'd keep it four, but the canon specifically states teams of three, and I want at least the smallest fraction of accuracy. Due to the rule as well, Sakura ultimately decided against taking the exam when she was tested by Iruka, but Kakashi let it slide because Ruby is there. Enough of my shattering of logic, that's it.

TLDR: teams were allowed to change for the exam; Ruby Sasuke and Naruto, and Weiss Blake and Yang

"What is he gonna do...?" I asked myself and peeked around the tree once more. As my confusion grew, I saw Gaara lift his hand higher.

"Wait.." Temari muttered quietly. "Gaara.. please, don't-!" That's when Gaara's hand clenched, and sand and blood flew everywhere.

"The first exam was soo lame..I hate tests," I groaned, walking through the forest with my arms behind my head- a habit picked up thanks to Naruto.

"It was the worst, right!? If only Sakura were here, I'm sure she could have helped me," Naruto agreed.

I nodded and turned to face Sasuke. "Anyway, we're in a forest now! So what's the plan, boss?"

"Boss?" Sasuke asked.

I shrugged, "Just seemed like you'd want to be in charge. I could take over if you want-"

"No. I wouldn't trust you with a goldfish, much less our lives."

I pouted, "You don't have to be so mean about it.." Naruto laughed until suddenly he froze. "Uh..you okay, Naruto? You didn't eat any weird berries, right?"

"No, uh..I just-" He moved over to a tree and started messing with his pants. "I just need to take care of some business."

"Idiot, go behind the tree!" Sasuke grumbled, disgusted. Naruto whined a bit, but left anyway.

It was pretty silent as we waited for him. I'm not exactly sure why, but thinking back to it, it kind of hurt that Naruto wished I was replaced by Sakura. I guess it makes sense since he likes her, but it just felt briefly like he didn't want me here...Too bad! I'm here now, and I'm gonna make sure he doesn't regret being on a team with me!

After a while, Naruto came back; so it seemed. I ignored what the imposter was saying, not caring about something unreal and wanting nothing more than to get my friend back. Sasuke seemed quick to notice as well as he attacked.

"Hey, what the hell, Sasuke!?" 'Naruto' yelled. I pulled out Crescent Rose, but didn't transform her. Instead, I used her sheathed form as a bat, hitting the fake Naruto to the ground.

"Where's Naruto!?" I yelled, pointing my weapon at the attacker. He transformed into a weird onesie man.

"Really Naruto? A man in a onesie and gas mask got you?" I asked with slight disappointment. Naruto glared lightly.

"Hey, he snuck up on me when I was at my most vulnerable! What was I supposed to do?"

"Quiet," Sasuke started. "For now we need to figure out how to keep this from happening again. I say we make a code, one that only we will know."

"Okay, I'm fine with that," I said and Naruto nodded. Sasuke had us memorize the code (mostly me, he seemed hopeless on Naruto). "Alright...So uh...what now?"

"We have to find scrolls, you dunce."

"Right!" Not long after, a widespread shockwave overtook us. Are you kidding!?

My body ached and I felt like just laying there forever. However, the thought of my teammates dying due to my laziness pushed me to move. I forced myself to stand, stretching my limbs and glancing around the area. I wanted to figure out how far I had gone and, from what I could tell, I went quite the distance.

I couldn't hear the siblings' conversation, nor could I hear the wildlife anymore. All I could hear is the beat of my heart and the pain I felt for those poor, innocent ninja who fell victim to them. Gaara killed so easily, and looked to enjoy it, but that doesn't seem right.. Was it Gaara who enjoyed doing so, or something else?

I broke out of my stupor to try to escape as quietly as possible. Dread seemed to weigh me down and made my limbs feel like lead. A few more steps, that's all it would take, then I could use my semblance and run! I just need to make it a little farther-

"Come out."

Damn it!

"I know you're there, show yourself. Unless you'd like me to do it for you." There was an inhuman tone hidden behind Gaara's, as if something else had come over him and it was using his identity as a shield.

"What is it?" Temari asked.

"I guess another chump is stalking us. Don't worry about it, Gaara, I can handle this one," Kankuro said. Gaara glanced at him before he closed his eyes, seeming to calm himself. He nodded to Kankuro, who held up him hands.

I couldn't move. No matter how hard I tried, it was impossible, until I realized why. "I wasn't stalking, just waiting until I felt it was safe," I tried.

"Safe for what? To stab us in the back, take our scroll, and run?" Kankuro asked.

"No, until it was safe for me to run away and not face confrontation."

"Where's your team?" Temari asked.

"We got separated. That's why I wanted to get to them without any distractions, but I guess I shot myself in the foot there.."

Gaara looked directly in my eyes, as if challenging my statement. I stared back into his, trying not to show weakness so as to hold my ground. His eyes seemed dark, not in color but in hope. A feeling overcame me; not fear or rejection, but one of curiosity.

"Let her go, she doesn't even have a scroll. It's not important enough to waste our time."

Kankuro whined, releasing whatever jutsu he had cast and walking behind his brother, slightly deflated. Rude..

I ran off again, hoping to finally make contact with my team members. I'm not sure how to feel about that trio, but I am curious. What happened to Gaara to make him that way..?
