When she got close enough I pushed the doors falling on top of her. She cried out, the doors were on top of her I jumped hard on top of them. Stomping on her hard. Then I grabbed Brody's arm and raced outside the room going downstairs.

"Bro, hurry grab anything we can eat or drink and let's get out of here!" I ordered him.

He grabbed everything in the pantries and refrigerator then he put all of it in a box. Anything but cheeses and milk. Anything that can go bad basically we left behind. I went to the garage and grabbed the flashlight and batteries. I got a crowbar and a shovel. I remember one time dad told me in case there was a burglar in the house he kept a gun hidden under his bed in a safe.

But this was a bigger emergency, it wasn't a burglar, it was a zombie. Yes, I finally admitted it. Seth was right. These were zombies. It was the zombie apocalypse, when the dead start to walk the earth. I've seen them in movies. That's how I know what to do, get the food first and get weapons.

I'm going to have to use the zombie movies and The Walking Dead as a guidebook. Ha-ha, how ironic that Zombieland was my favorite movie. Never thought I would be living it. I went upstairs quietly passing Brody's room, mom was still under the heavy closet doors struggling to get out from under them. I ran to my parents’ room and looked under the bed. The safe was there, I grabbed it and I unlocked it with the code my father told me a long time ago it was easy to remember because it was my mom and dad's anniversary.

The gun was in pieces. 'Oh damn, dad told me to watch a YouTube video on how to put a gun together' and I never watched it. Dad was a very prepared man. I’m surprised he wasn’t prepared for the apocalypse. I tried to put the gun together, I finally got it and I loaded it up with bullets.

"Let's get out of here J!" yelled Brody from downstairs. I ran back down and saw Brody, his arms filled with boxes filled with food and bottles of water we had in the pantry.

I helped him with the boxes and I lead Brody to the garage to get in the car. I got my license just 2 weeks ago. I don't even know how I got it. I'm not a very good driver. Brody stopped in front of the car "J, you're gonna drive? But I don't want to die in a car crash, I'd rather die being eaten by a zombie, because that sounds cooler." He said.

I wanted to laugh at what he said, but I couldn't be happy at a time like this. My mother was a living dead. My sister died and the whole world is infested with the infected. Brody was all I had left. And I'm sure all the rest of my family is either already in a zombie's stomach or is an actual zombie.

“Just get in the car” I told him. He opened the car door to the passenger seat, and turned on the radio. I stared at him. “What?” he asked. “Aren’t you going to put on your seatbelt?” I questioned him. “It’s not like a zombie cop is gonna stop you and give you a ticket.” he said in humor. He put on his seatbelt at last and turned up the volume on the radio. After all the static stations Brody passed, he finally found a station. There was a man’s voice coming from the radio. “If you are just being informed until now, you must stay in your homes, lock all your doors, and block your windows. And most important, stay away from the infected. I repeat stay away from anyone who is infected. For they will try to bite you even if you are one of their loved ones.” -Yeah, I and Brody are witnesses of that- “If you are bitten, go to the nearest hospital to be treated. And....” The reporter’s voice cut off for a second until it came back with screams in the background. “Carl! Help someone he got bit! Carl? No Carl stay back Carl! No!” that was the last thing the reporter said before it went static.

I and Brody stared at each other with horror. “He told us to stay inside. We can’t go out now.” said Brody concerned. “Look Bro, I have seen many of these situations happen. They will find us and we will be trapped in this house. We’ll die if we stay here.” I told him.

Just before Brody could say another word I pressed the button on the control that opened the garage. There was no life outside so I put the car in reverse and started to back up. Until I heard a huge bam. “Did I hit someone?!” I asked anxiously to Brody. “Or something” He said. I got out of the car with my crowbar in my hand, I was gripping on it so hard my knuckles turned white. I heard groaning, as I prepared myself holding the crowbar above my head, ready to hit the zombie in the head I saw Seth groaning in pain his hand on his head, pretty sure that's where I threw my car at him.

"Are you a zombie?!" I yelled pointing the crowbar at him. "No!" He yelled back looking at me in disbelief. "Prove it!" I demanded him.

"You’re dumber than I thought J. Um, oh I don't know how I can prove it to you..c. Maybe, oh yeah! I'm talking, you bone head! You know zombies can't talk!" He said getting up from the ground wiping himself off.

"Oh yeah, forgot “I said. "Why are you here?" I asked him as I closed the garage. He looked at me with pain in his eyes. "What happened? How did it start?" I asked him. "I was in Math class when it happened. The school alarm went off, but nobody moved. Everybody thought it was a false alarm or something. Until the principal's voice came on the speaker screaming 'everybody evacuate the building! This is not a false alarm! Run to your houses and stay with your parents. Do not get close to anybody who has a wound.' And all a sudden all the kids ran out of the classes out the school. But only some kids were able to get out. There were teachers and students that started biting people on the necks and everywhere! I told you it was the zombie apocalypse J! We shouldn't have gone to school today! Now I don't even know where my parents are!" He screamed at me looking terrified about the whole situation, well who wouldn't be? He started to look very sad until I saw his eyes getting red. I hugged him for comfort.

"My mom turned into one of them." I told him. He looked at me with a straight face. "I'm sorr." - "she's still inside" I interrupted him. “She’s what?! We have to get out of here then!" He yelled at me. "Get in Buddy." I told him.

“Brody!” yelled Seth when he opened the car door and saw Brody. “Seth. You’re still alive? Dang it.” he said. Seth has been in Brody’s life ever since Brody was born. Me and Seth have been friends for a long time. But Brody never actually liked him, I think it was because no matter where Brody hid his Oreo cookies Seth would always find them and eat all of them. And Seth would always mess up Brody’s hair or punch him hard on the arm. The biggest reason he doesn’t like Seth though is because I spend more time with Seth than with him. Brody rolled his eyes and moved to the backseat because Seth told him to.

Seth got in the front seat sitting next to me. Out of nowhere he just started crying, burying his face into his hands. I still can’t believe this was really happening, there could be zombies everywhere by now.

“Where are you planning on driving to?” asked Seth trying to calm down his weeping.

“I don’t know”

I have no idea where a safe place would be. It’s not like I know anybody who works in the White house or someone in the army. All a sudden I got an idea, I really didn’t want to do it though. But I would do anything just to keep my brother safe.

“So, you have any ideas?” asked Seth

“Yeah, let’s go see Desmond.”
