Rebecca was a nice hound girl, who always got good grades kinda like Ella, but the difference is, Ella had neither of her parents, she was a foster kid, so as a Puerto Rican child she constantly got made fun of because her parents were white and she wasn't. she was raised right never be peer pressured into something you don't want to do. so when kyle sent that message to Rebecca she thought 'wow to think I liked this guy, what a douche'
Ella had a different perspective, when Ella was 2 years old her and her family got in a terrible car crash. and sadly Ella's fathers died of brain injury, and Ella's mother had to get a prosthetic leg above the knee, even though she was so young she remembers it like it was yesterday. the screaming, and the sobbing, and the sirens, and the police tape. Ella couldn't even think about it without shaking. but her dad was never there to protect her from boys who "weren't good enough for her" she didn't know right and wrong when it came to a situation with a boy she really liked.
