Mei's POV

I stood there frozen. This is what he meant when he said that he would see me soon. But why so soon? I finally got the courage to speak, "Why are you here?" I asked.

"I was invited here, why else would I be here?" father stated.

"Hello father," a voice said.

"Hello Reiji, my son, how have you been?" father asked.

"I have been fine father," Reiji replied. "Now can you tell me what you have doing with Mei?"

Wow, I had never seen Rei-nii so serious before. Normally, he would be happy. Everyone in the room had left to the dining room. We were the only ones left in the main room.

"What are you talking about Reiji, the little brat ran away about a year ago," father stated.

"I know what you have done to her. She didn't run away, you had kicked her out," Reiji said.

"I don't know what that thing has been telling you, but why would you believe her anyway? She is a dumb, dimwitted little girl. She is useless," father spat.

"Father you're wrong," Reiji stated. My eyes widened. Was he standing up for me? "She is one of the sweetest little girls out there and the songs she writes are amazing and make you want to get up and dance to them. I am proud to call her my little sister." I looked up at Rei-nii. He stood his ground and smiled at me. I smiled back.

"Reiji, you have never acknowledged her before now. Why the sudden change of heart?" father asked coldly.

"She has touched me with her music," he replied.

"I guess I'll be on my way," father said. "I'll be back one day." I looked at Rei-nii.

"Don't worry, Mei-Mei, he won't hurt you ever again," he assured and pulled me in for a hug. "I'll make sure of it."

"OK," I replied. "Thank you."

"No problem. That is what big brothers are for right?" Rei-nii smiled. "Let's go join the others in the dining hall." I nodded.

We walked into the dining room to find the others still sitting at the table with their parents. They hadn't begun eating yet.

"Where is your father?" Tokiya asked.

We looked at each other. "He needed to take a sudden leave," I answered. The others looked at me in concern, but I shrugged it off.

"Why haven't you begun eating yet?" I questioned.

"We were waiting for you," Haruka answered.

"You didn't have to wait for us," I replied.

"Why wouldn't we? You were the one that made the food, butterfly," Ren cooed. (A/N: He sure does coo a lot, doesn't he?)

"Why don''t we begin eating now," I said. "I'm not sure if I made enough food, though. I didn't know we were having guests."

"Don't worry about it," Masato reassured. Everyone ended up having something to eat and all of the parents were super nice. They all complimented my cooking skills. They stayed after dinner and I got a chance to talk to all of them. Well, except for Ittoki's parents. He had recently told us about being an orphan. I felt bad for him, so I talked with him for most of the night, while the others caught up with their parents. Even though my father wasn't there, and my mother was in heaven, everything was OK. I realized that I had found another great family.
