Miss The Memories pt2

"Attention Division 1 recruits! Today we will host a race to see who shall be my Lieutenant."

Commander Karen stated as we all stood straight and waiting. I looked over at Ace and Knives as they stood just as straight, and pouted to myself.

We where just 14 but Ace was already the fastest and strongest of us all, Knives was next to him, then here I am, In third place.

Kara doesn't need a third place sister. She needs a first place.

"I have chosen three out of you all that I see the most fit, to lead the rest in my stead." Karen stated as she looked between all of us, Her eyes already on her sister.

This is so totally rigged. I give up. No I can't give up. This is for Lieutenant. It's a responsibility I can do it.

"The Race is around the island, you must dodge and face whatever horrors come. And do it as fast as you can because whoever gets here first wins and is Lieutenant."

I looked at Ace and Knives, as Ace stuck out his tongue "Don't get left behind guys." He chuckled. Knives just tilted her long ponytailed hair, as I bounced in place.

"Please Ace don't choke on my dust."

"Hmm I won't as long as you don't choke on...."

"Your MARK!"

"On what Ace?" I asked.

"Get set!"

"Deez Nutz!" He yelled as Karen yelled "Go!"

Instantly we all set of on a fast sprint me with a smile, Knives with a frown and Ace. Well Ace was to far ahead.

Knives and Ace kept pushing each other to go faster as my legs trailed behind. I frowned catching my breath looking around to see where else I can go. We had taken off through the coliseum and needed to head to the furthest beach to reach the half way mark of our lap around the island. Then come back to the other side of the coliseum while running along the edge of the island.  

But if we cut through the mountain we could half our time. And run half the island.  But no one's ever done anything like that. 

Is that even in the rules?

I stopped and bit my nail looking around as the sounds of the animals caught up to me. "If I go, that'a way it'll be quicker and we'll avoid dangers like war beasts and stuff."  I stated to myself. I looked at the Mountain path with rough rocks and then at the path way full of trees that the other two had raced towards .

"That ways the best way." I mumbled to myself looking back at the mountain one last time, as I took off after Ace and Knives to tell them of my new decision. I took after them but felt my body as it screamed stop.  I frowned and slowed to a stop again, as I was just not fast enough.

Spinning around slowly I Looked around and noticed how tall the trees where, If I could climb them and jump from tree to tree while running I could get there faster I'm sure.

I set to climbing the trees and realizing that my armor was just to heavy, and shed it all but my breast plate. My blue cloak floating away as I dropped it and watched happily as It landed in the dirt.

I continued up the tree realizing just how light I felt. I smiled and perched myself up and waited with my keen eyes till finally, I saw the trees bending and swaying as if there was a fight.

I smiled and cheered standing up really lightly and started running, bouncing from tree to tree and balancing on every limb dead or not until I found Ace and Knives back to back surrounded by five Warbeasts.
