“Regrets, it always haunt me in my sleep even when I’m awake. After all, I should have been by her side no matter what. Especially when she needed me most, I wasn’t there in her side.”

September 15th

Lewis Dawn- we know each other since we’re kids. She just moved here in our place not so far in my house, and every time we hang around, Corwin Turner and I crack a joke about her. She gets mad and chases us around with a baseball bat- yes, a real baseball bat. Of course we always ran for our lives hoping that she won’t get us. Sad to say, I lack of exercises so in terms of running, she always catches me first. Luckily, she didn’t hit me with her baseball bat; she’s just laughing and says, “That was fun!” and that’s how we became best friends.

Today was the day when we are going to school as high school students. Her black pupils, black long hair, white complexion, and she always put a blue ribbon in her uniform. She doesn’t look like the girl I knew who chases me with her baseball bat. She really turned into a mature teen.

We stood in the crowded gym looking for our section’s place to assemble. “Andrew, are you ready? Too bad we’re not classmates anymore. But at the bright side, your classroom was beside ours.” She said to me with a smile. “Don’t worry, we’ll see each other after school.” She said again and went to her section’s line and chatted with her classmates.

It was a boring day for me because all I have to do is introduce in front of the class and try to make new acquaintances. It’s not difficult for me because I can get along with everyone.

Time passes slowly, and I realize that it’s already time to go home. I stick with my new acquaintances; they were my 2nd grade classmates so I hang around with them after school. While I was on my way home, I felt that something was not right- something that I should have done, but I ignored this feeling and went straight home.

September 15th, 7:42 p.m.

I was watching television and I checked my phone for a while. I was shocked because I received 5 messages:

<Lewis>

4:03 p.m.

Andrew, we’ll wait you outside at the back gate.

<Lewis>

4:47 p.m.

Hey, are you coming or not?

<Lewis>

5:23 p.m.

Claire and the others left. I’m still here.

<Lewis>

5:45 p.m.

The school will be closed in any minutes. I’m still here.

<Lewis>

6:30 p.m.

I guess you went home and do something important; I’ll just see you tomorrow.

I want to punish myself to what I’ve done. I tried to call her but she doesn’t answer. I guess she’s mad at me. I wanted to go to her house but it’s already dark, and my parents won’t allow me to go out right now. I guess I have to talk to her tomorrow.

September 16th, 12:09 noon

I went straight to her classroom but the room was locked. I’m pretty sure they already went to the canteen so I ran over there. When I arrived, I saw her classmates but I sensed something bad about them- they look like they want to strangle me to death. But I ignored them and looked for her again.

I saw her friends, Chloe Huston and Penelope Albert, talking to one another.

“Hey, where’s Lewis?” I asked them.

“Chloe, I’m going to the bathroom, I’m pretty sure you don’t want to stay here.” Penelope said.

“Great idea.” Chloe answered, and they walked away.

I have no idea why they were acting like that in front of me. They were also my friends when were in grade school, and they were also Lewis’ classmates.

I headed to my locker, while I was walking in our hallway, I saw Lewis in front of her locker all alone. I walked towards her.

“Lewis, I’m sorry I didn’t show up yesterday. I didn’t bring my phone so I didn’t know you texted me. And I’m so sorry I was a total jerk. Please forgive me.” I said.

“Its okay, Andrew, It’s not your fault.” She said but her voice was fragile and looks like she was about to cry.

“I’m really sorry, Lewis. I’ll do my best to make it up to you.” I said. She didn’t answer and she left me. I don’t know what to do to make up with her. I know she’s mad.

“I’ll meet you at the back gate after class. I’ll be there.” I finally said. I hope she heard me.

September 16th, 4:04 p.m.

I went to the back gate of our school. I was alone here and the other students are going home. I texted her but she didn’t replied. I also called her but she didn’t answer. I really can tell that she’s mad at me.

Suddenly, I saw her friends going home and headed to the back gate, but when they saw me, they turned back and headed to the main gate of our school. I ran towards them and I know that they know where Lewis is.

“Hey, why are you avoiding me, I didn’t do anything wrong. You know where Lewis is?” I asked.

“She’s in my pocket, wanna see?” Claire said.

“I’m not joking around. Where is she?” I said.

“Why do you have to care, Andrew? She doesn’t want to talk to you right now.” Penelope said.

“Oh, but you know where she is?” I said.

“Of course, but we can’t tell you. Like what I already said, she doesn’t want to talk to you right now.”
