Frost has made a second skin on the leaves and bark of trees throughout St. James Park. There are no birds in sight, as far as you can see.
It's just grey sky.
The strands of grass have frozen in place, desperately searching for a way out of their ice form. You can hear the crunch of all of them together whenever you glide your feet over them. The wind is in a bitter mood and nips at any bare skin exposed to it. Your breath forms ghostly shadows when ever you breath out and they watch you as you leave it behind to freeze.
Wi-fi sniffs every little thing she can come across. Along with marking her territory every few minutes, although it won't be marked her territory for long as there are a ton of dogs that roam around here with their owners. Whether it's for a healthy jog or a harmless walk in the park, Wi-fi's bound to lose her territorial claims. Her paws pad along the frozen concrete and yet to her, it's the warmest thing she's felt. After all, she is immune to it.
The stroller that Jakob is in is covered by a thick blanket, yet short enough to let him see the hidden simplicity and beauty of his environment outside of home. He, too, is bombarded with blankets of all sorts. With a blue scarf and boots. The blue beanie that Harry had given him could be seen from miles away with it's original neon green dinosaur. Jakob giggles and takes the time to admire, the things he's never seen before, all in 1 glance.
My watch read 6:43am. I had decided to take a walk since Jakob had woken from his slumber, crying. I, being afraid of him waking the girls, decided to take him on a walk to soothe him of whatever nerves he had at the time. Although, he shouldn't even have nerves. Nearly 1 years old and he's stressed over something I'll never know. However, I knew how he was feeling for I had nerves in my own state of mind. I'm stressing about how I'm gonna keep the girls entertained. I'm not party host proof. I'm awkward and unsociable. It's sad really. I just don't know how I could keep up with these girls.
They're fun and full of love. They have looks any girl would kill for. They could be freaking models as for I could be... well I am a couch potato. They know how to live and they have the option to drink and go clubbing. I don't.....
Well, I do. I have done plenty of it earlier this year. Enough that had gotten myself in loads and tons of trouble.
But, I have responsibilities otherwise and have a little boy counting on me. I don't have time for that. As good as a shot of vodka burning my throat with it's texture sounds, I just can't. Not after my streak of not laying a hand on a bottle for 6 months. Plus, that would be extremely low... Extremely low since I have a child in the house.
I sigh and turn the stroller around to head back to my apartment. Jakob has been quiet most of the time, which is eerily weird. Wi-fi has been cooperative throughout the whole trip. Keeping any dog that might be wanting to get in the way of the stroller away. I noticed I'm strangely freezing even though pretty much every inch of my body is covered. My stomach is hurting as well. Bad combination.
When I enter the flat's lobby, I'm greeted by a bright and early Mr. Wood as he says, "Well good mornin' Miss Jess!"
Mr. Woods was an elder man, but looked way younger than his age at 63. He was dark skinned and had white hair. Along, with round glasses and an always kind smile. Mr. Wood was from New Orleans and had made his way here to reconnect with his brother that is currently battling leukemia. He had that white shirt with a plaid button up look, and beige corduroys. He lives 2 levels under me.
I returned his smile. "Good morning Mr. Woods. How are you and your brother doing?" I asked.
"Oh Daniel is doing ok. I think he's just preparing himself, you know?" I nodded sadly. "And I'm doing fine. I'm actually wondering what you're doing up so early? The only time I see you is when you leave for work or go to pick the little one up?"
"Oh yeah, well I have company over and they had come back from the U.S. I had to go pick them up from the airport at 4:00 this morning. He didn't want to let the girls rest with his wails so I took him and Wi-fi for a stroll in St. James." I explained. He nodded in understanding.
"Well, you should get your rest. You look dead." He joked. I instantly thought back to when I first met the boys and had invited them over for dinner that night. When they had decided to leave they said it was because I looked like the living dead.
I smiled back and said a good bye before returning to the all so familiar elevator. Throughout the whole way, I realized how much I miss them. It's funny really, how I didn't have anyone except John and Ken. Before I met them, I'd probably be doing the exact same thing with Jakob minus the girls and boys. Now look at me, I'm over here getting emotional over boys I haven't seen for 2 days or so at 7:10 in the morning.
When I opened the door to my flat, the smell of food came to fill my nostrils. I quietly walked in, not thinking anything of the smell, and put Jakob down in his crib to go to sleep. I folded his stroller and stored it in the supply closet. I grabbed Wi-fi's leash and walked out to the kitchen to feed her. But, I'm surprised when I'm greeted by my 2 guests that have flour and muffin mix all over them. The floor is covered in all different kinds of things, most I can't even make out besides the egg whites, some yolk, milk, and water. The rest is foreign to me. The girls haven't noticed me come in yet, due to the fact that their backs were facing me and they talked in hush whispers. I slowly bent down and reached for the dog food bag to my right, snatched it and silently ran out to the balcony to Wi-fi's food and drink bowl. I filled it up and kept the bag out there figuring it would probably get added to the mix of things the girls had spread on the floor. I quietly made my way back inside the kitchen and took a seat in one of the chairs. I took out my phone and started to record them.
Perrie was wearing purple boy shorts and what looked like Zayn's black Led Zepplin shirt. Her hair was a disheveled mess and rested in a ponytail fashion.
Eleanor had on Coca-Cola pajama pants on with a matching shirt. She had black fuzzy slippers on her feet and her long brown locks rested in a bun on the top of her head.
They would bump hips with each other every time they moved, trying to grab this or grab that.I stopped recording and sent the video to Louis and Zayn. After, I stood up and started to make my way across the kitchen towards them, intending on scaring the living daylights out of them, but ended up slipping and falling flat on my arse with a loud 'smack'. The girls swung around and when they saw me they immediately rushed towards me with scared and worried expressions on their faces. I was laughing the whole time. When they stuck their gunk covered hands out to help me, which I gratefully took, and an idea popped into my head. I was about halfway up when I yanked my arms back down and they came with me. We all ended up on the floor in a surprised and grossed out way. I was laughing at the girls expressions.
"What the HELL!!! You scared me!! We try helping you and this is what we get?!" Perrie says while trying to hold back laughter.
"Well, you guys made the mess anyway... So why not make fun out of it before we have to clean it?" I asked with a shrug.
"You're funner and more chill about this than I thought you'd be?" El pointed out.
"Eeeh? But it's you girls. If it was anyone else I'd slit their throats." We all laugh and fall back on our backsides, staring at the ceiling. Out of nowhere, Eleanor starts to move her arms up and down creating an angel figure. I look at Perrie and she looks at me, both of us have wide grins on our faces. We nod at each other and copy El's actions. We're making gunk angels! We kept this up while talking, laughing, making jokes, and just forgetting about everything until our arms hurt. That's when we stopped and took a breather.
"You guys are the only girlfriends I've ever had and let me just say..... You and the boys are the best thing that has happened to me in a long time."
The girls 'aawed' and pulled me into a mini group hug.
I finally found where I'm accepted. I finally found where I belong....
