chapter sixteen; tongue tied
◘◘◘
"GOOD MORNING!"
"OH my God!" Robyn screamed, kicking her blankets off and jumping out of bed. There was a flash of ginger hair as she raced to the other side of the room, banging into Angelina, who had screamed when she did. "Oh my God!"
"Relax! Merlin - relax, Red, it's just me," Fred grabbed onto her arms, stopping her from panicking any more. "It's me!"
"Jesus Christ, Fred!" exclaimed Robyn, swatting at him. The screaming from Alicia and Katie stopped as they realised what was going on, Alicia simply getting back into bed, and Katie glaring at Fred. "Why would you do that? You scared me half to death!"
Fred laughed, although he did look a little apologetic as he took in her angry expression properly. She looked a sorry sight, her hair a mess around her head as it slipped out of its bun, and a deep frown between her eyebrows.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he told her sincerely, squeezing her shoulders reassuringly. "I didn't think it would scare you this much. It was quite funny, though."
"How did you even get up here? I thought the stairs turned into a slide if boys tried getting into girls' rooms," Angelina narrowed her eyes at the ginger boy, who beamed at her. Robyn shook her head at him, breathing deep as she tried to calm her racing heartbeat.
"Ah, George and I found a spell to reverse that years back. Don't worry, I promise I'll put it back when I'm done," he told her, looking more than a little proud of himself. Angelina rolled her eyes and he turned his attention back to Robyn, who looked less flustered now. "I came to ask if you wanted to get breakfast."
She blinked. "Breakfast?"
"Yeah, breakfast. You know, the most important meal of the day..." Fred explained, looking at her oddly. "Did you bang your head when I scared you?"
"No, idiot," Robyn scowled at him. "Couldn't you have just waited until I woke up normally?"
"No, actually. No, I couldn't," Fred grinned. He patted her on the head and then moved towards the door, still smiling. "Meet me downstairs in half an hour?"
Robyn did her best to keep the annoyed look on her face, but he was so happy when he looked at her that she found it impossible not to smile back at him.
"Fine. But make it an hour," she told him, folding her arms over chest.
"Ugh," Fred groaned, spinning around on his heel as Robyn laughed. "Fine! Fine. But don't take ages!"
"Best hurry up, Robyn," Alicia murmured, already drifting back to sleep as he exited the room. "I'm not having your boyfriend coming in and waking us all up again."
"He's not my boyfriend," Robyn told her, but she didn't reply, her breaths evening out as she slept. The smile on her face grew as she shook her head again, grabbing some clothes from her wardrobe and beginning to get ready for whatever Fred had in store.

"FINALLY!" FRED EXCLAIMED as Robyn came down the stairs just over an hour later. He jumped up from the couch, meeting her at the bottom of the staircase. "I thought I was gonna die of boredom waiting down here."
"Very dramatic," Robyn scoffed, nudging him teasingly. "But I wouldn't expect anything less."
"Shall we?" he offered her his arm, ignoring her comment.
"We shall," she nodded, linking her own arm with his. She laughed as he beamed proudly at her, beginning to lead them to the portrait hole.
"To breakfast we go, m'lady."
