Preface.

Tiny, cute, glitter with big beautiful wings. Well let me tell you that definitely isn’t me. I may have wings, but I’m definitely not tiny nor do I have glittery Pixie dust, I’ll leave that to those insufferable little sharp-toothed devils.

Faeries are nothing like that. We are exactly the opposite of our friendly fairy counterparts. Where they are good we are bad.

They have glowing skin with light hair and are lovers of all things pastel colored. Where we are lovers of all things dark and dreary, with dark hair and slightly dark skin and eyes that glow. As you see not at all the same, but if that isn’t good enough let me break it down.

Fairies: good

Faeries: bad

And there is a council governing them, making sure that both races live in relative peace.

Being summoned by the council always means bad news, especially when I’m being summoned, and when I’m summoned it only means one thing: Fairies.

Now that’s bad because I hate fairies and that’s not just because I’m a Faerie their born enemy. It’s in my nature to hate them but fairies make me sick, they are the goodest of the good so good they make me smile, I don’t do smiles, not anymore anyway. People say I’m anything but good, some might say that I hide my horns under my curly brown hair, and that my eyes are red instead of its glowing brownish green, that my skin glows with evil instead if it’s natural pale glow.

But who knows they could be right, for they know I could turn into all of the above, it wouldn’t be the first time I would change into something else. I mean who wants to be a Fairy when being a Faerie is so much more badass.

Concentrate Fara, this is serious; they wouldn’t have asked you to come if it wasn’t important.

Even before I enter the room I know that seven council members will be sitting in a half circle with the left-hand chair at the start of the half circle empty waiting for me to fill it. Only come when I feel like joining a meeting which is almost never.

Know that the seven black and silver chairs filled with seven members who are already present. Members who in my opinion have sticks so far up their asses that I have no idea how they breath or bend over.

Amelia and Jonathan who will be seated in the middle looking down from their noses at the rest, and they would not be the only ones. Then there would be Theodore, Christiana and Julian on Jonathan’s right. Then there is Braxton, Isabel and then myself.

Well here I go. The opening of the double black doors alert everyone of my arrival. I’m pleasantly surprised that nothing has changed, as if it ever would. The lower level faeries bow, the council members bow their head in greeting and I walk to the center and bow my head once their heads rose. Same thing different day.

Taking my seat I wait to hear what the meeting is all about. Please let it not be that impotent so that I can go home and sleep away the headache I’m developing.

Finally Jonathan opens the meeting. “It looks as there is a war coming and we’ll have to join forces with the fairies.” Well there goes sleeping it off.
