Thursday was probably the weirdest day of my life. Maybe even the most exciting. Well, aside from almost getting burned to death in a cellar.

Hi, my name is Jake. And what I'm about to tell you is top secret. So whatever you do, guard this story with your life!

***********************************************************

It's Thursday morning, and I wake up to mom's special omelets. I lazily sit up in my bed, run my hand through my messy black hair, throw on a t-shirt, and go downstairs to the amazing smell in the kitchen. Once I sit down at the dining room table, mom sets my breakfast on the table in front of me. As I hastily ate my breakfast, my mom sat down next to me with a look on her face that I couldn't point out.

" Jake, your aunt Becca wants you to visit her today instead of going to school. If you don't want to go then"

" But why would she want me to go on a school day?" I cut mom off.

" Well I don't know Jake, but whatever it is, she sounded like she needed you over as soon as possible. I don't know what's gotten into your aunt. You know, Jake, you don't have to go if you don't want to." mom says with a worried look on her face.

" No, I want to go. I haven't seen her in while anyways. It may be fun." I say.

" Okay Jake, but be careful. It's just weird how your aunt sounded on the phone."

" Mom, I'm sixteen years old. I can take care of myself." I assure mom.

" If you say so, Jake." mom gives in.

After eating my breakfast, I head upstairs to my room and change into my favorite MUSE t-shirt, faded skinny jeans, and my black sneakers. I throw on a hoodie and head out the front door.

My mom is an archeologist, so she's pretty loaded. We have a huge house in San Diego, a Mercedes Benz and a Range Rover, and a vacation house in the Bahamas. But don't worry. I'm not one of those stuck up rich kids. I even go to a public school.

I hop in my Range Rover and start the car up. As I head down Bellatrix Drive, I start to see the top of my aunt's mansion.

You see, all my grandma's children are successful. My aunt Becca is a big time lawyer. So, of course, she's loaded. Also, my uncle Benson owns his own record company. But he lives in New York City.

When I pulled up in front of my aunt's mansion, she was already there waiting on the front steps to greet me. But standing next to her was my uncle Benson who was suppose to be in New York City working with MUSE about a new album.

As I make my way up the steps to join my aunt and uncle, a loud swooshing sound comes from behind me. In the next instant, I'm on the ground paralyzed, not able to move a muscle. All I could feel was agonizing pain.

" Sorry about that Jake, but we couldn't risk you running away after what we are about to tell you. Oh, but don't worry. The pain will only last for a little while. Now relax and listen to what your uncle has to say. And no interruptions." my aunt says.

I can see my uncle walking down the steps. He bends down and sits on the ground next to me. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see a man's silhouette. But as I look closer, I notice it's my cousin Baylor. In his hand he's holding a little mouth pipe. He's the one who shot the tranquilizer at me. I wonder what they're up to.

" Look here, Jake. Me and your aunt have a business together. But we are not talking about some ordinary business. Today's economy is not doing so well. And the more people that are in this country, the deeper we get into recession. So the government has asked us to do them a little favor. They want the two of us, me and your aunt, to get rid of some of the elders in the community. So basically, we kill, we get paid, and we're all happy. Well, at least some of us are. But why we need you, Jake? It's as simple as needing someone to carry on the family business. Of course we asked your mother to join, but she refused. If only she had agreed, we could have saved her. But, oh well." says uncle Benson.
