So as you all know I just recently finished season 3 of The 100 and I'm now caught up. I'm just going to give my opinion on some of the major plot points that happened throughout the season and what I though of the season overall. A quick disclaimer, if you aren't caught up on The 100 then DO NOT read this review as it will contain MAJOR SPOILERS.
1. The City of Light storyline:
I thought the storyline for the City of Light was interesting to say the least. Mainly because it felt a lot like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" with that the people of Arkadia and the grounders not being themselves after they've taken the chip. What I liked the most was Alie herself because she was the type of villain that was all knowing and could make you bend to her will. In a way this is a comparison to God because God is all powerful and all knowing. Also I want to give major applause to Erica Cerra for her portrayal as the character. She did a tremendous job at playing Alie, but also playing Becca!2. Lexa's Death:
I know you're probably wondering why Lexa's death is at number 2 and not number 1. The reason for this is because I already discussed my feeling on her death the day I watched the episode. I have a whole chapter about it in my story "We're the Same." The chapter is called 'Your Fight is Over Heda.' However I will reiterate what I said about it. I thought that it was an unfair for an amazing character like Lexa to die especially after Clarke confessed her feelings to Lexa. I'm especially pissed about how she died as well. My hope is that Clarke doesn't find love again next season because that wouldn't be fair to Eliza, who is a big advocate on Clexa, it wouldn't be fair to us as fans, and it wouldn't be fair to the show either. I say this last part because after episode 7, the shows ratings dropped quite a bit. Also can we appreciate the fact that Eliza is advocating CLEXA and body positivity like crazy!! Both her and Alycia are the greatest gems ever created I swear!!3. Lincoln's Death:
Really at a lose for words on this one. I'm really upset that another one of my favorite characters died and no words can express how I felt about it when it happened. Lincoln was an amazing character and Ricky did a terrific job at portraying the character! I think what upsets me the most is that we really didn't get to see that much of his this season prior to his death. That could just be me though, but let me know what you think of that. Lately I've been hearing that Jason was bullying Ricky so that way his character didn't have that much to say or didn't give him enough screen time. To me that's a really crappy thing to do to an actor. If you do that to an actor, then you should be fired. What's really funny about this though is that both Lindsey and Ricky have been blasting Jason on social media about what a terrible person he is! So much respect for them cause of that!!4. More deaths: throughout the season there were a lot of deaths from characters we've know since the pilot, to characters introduced during the season. It was really weird to see Sinclair die because he's always been a part of the team and has always helped out. It's going to be interesting to see how Raven copes with the death of her mentor next season. Aden and the nightbloods death was one that shocked me because they were introduced in the season. It would've been nice to see their characters flushed out a bit more rather then it being like "Hey I'm going to be the next commander and I promise to protect your people Clarke." Titus was just a complete pain in the ass and I was kind of shocked he died. At the same time he realized what he did and wanted to honor Lexa's memory by helping Clarke. Ontari was just a cliched character that gets introduced and is just there. Roan was actually a badass character and I can't wait to see him next season. For awhile I confused his actor with voice actor Troy Baker. (Look him up and compare the two.)
5. Pike and the Sky vs. Ground Storyline:
When Pike was first introduced I thought I was going to like his character, how wrong was later in on. What was interesting about his character though was that he was secluded for two seasons, not knowing that there was an alliance between Skaikru and Trikru. In a way he represented the past were they were at war with each other and that is what fueled that storyline throughout.6. Character Transformations:
Throughout the season 3 characters went through a transformation of sorts. Jasper being a drunk as a way of coping with Maya's death, Bellamy being an asshole for most of the season, and Octavia trying to figure out who she isI can honestly say I really liked this aspect of the season because we didn't see a whole lot of it in the first 2 seasons. I had mixed feelings about Jasper being a drunk and acting like an ass most of the time. Particularly because we were such to seeing as such a sweet and innocent character. Also I found out he was supposed to kill himself in the season finale. They had already filmed the scene, but they didn't make it into the cut of the finale. I guess the reason for this was because Jason felt the finale was already dark as it is. I really really hated Bellamy this season because he practically reverted back to season 1 Bellamy. He wouldn't listen to reason with either Kane or Clarke when she snuck into Arkadia in episode 5. It wasn't until the last couple episodes that he redeemed himself which is a massive cliche in a character arc. Octavia's story was interesting because she struggled with who she was at center of it all. Even after Lincoln died, she struggled more with it and based on how the season finale ended, it looks like she's going on a dark road.Overall opinion:
This season tried to hard to live up to the expectations that season 2 had and in the end it didn't work that much. The first 6 episodes are great and I enjoyed watching, however after episode 7 that's when the season went down hill. Deaths of well beloved characters being the main cause for this. That and the fact that it just had to many plot arcs going on within the season. Some of these arcs worked, but others didn't. Not one of the worst season, but certainly not the best.So that's my review for season 3! Let me know what you guys thought of it. If there is anything you felt like I didn't touch base on let me know in the comments. Also check out my Clexa AU "We're the Same"! Have a nice weekend everyone.
