Annabeth

Bang, bang, bang!

My heart started beating out of my chest as I picked up the speed. My heavy boots pounded against the sidewalk.

I twisted and turned, trying to avoid the bullets as best as I could, blonde hair occasionally whipping my face.

My legs were starting to burn and ache, begging me to stop. Ducking into an alley, I began to climb the trash can pressed against the side of the old building. I jumped and grabbed onto the edge of the roof, starting to pull myself up.

"Where'd she go?!" An angry, raspy voice hissed. As soon as I managed to climb up, I quickly ducked and waited as I heard their voices pass. My shaky fingers fumbled with themselves as I held my breath, trying to blend in with the shadows.

"When I find that blonde she-devil, I'm gonna make her pay." I silently scoffed at that and rolled my eyes. Make me pay? The only thing he'll be doing is pleading to the lord when I have a gun pointed at his head.

I slowly got to my feet and started looking around the roof. Pulling my phone out, I dialed Jason's number and impatiently waited.

"Did you lose 'em?"

"Of course I did. I'm Annabeth Chase."

"Let's not get too cocky, Princess. Did you get the information I needed?"

As I played with the knife in my hand, a male figure caught my attention. He was sitting on the roof of the building next to me, staring right back at me with sea green eyes.

A small shiver shot down my spine as I immediately averted my eyes away.

"Annabeth?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah. The West Gang officially teamed up with the South. They're plotting something bad."

"Shit. I'll talk to the East's leader tomorrow. I don't want those shits leading them to their side either."

A small smirk tugged at my lips as I leaned against a chimney and said, "You just don't want to be fighting against Piper." I looked back over to the other roof and noticed that the boy was watching me curiously. On any other occasion, I would've flipped him off, but something was telling me not to. Judging by the look in his eyes, he was just there to relax. He didn't want any trouble and I had no reason to give it to him.

"Ah, shut up. Alright, you know what to do. Now go, it's late and you have school tomorrow."

Rolling my eyes, I made a small tsk tsk sound. "Okay, dad," I said sarcastically and started making my way down the roof. I peeked over my shoulder one last time and saw the strange man was gone. Letting out a breath of relief, I hung up and made my way back home.

A/N: How was that for a prologue? I'm not sure how this story will turn out, I guess we'll just have to see. It's really just meant for me to get back in the writing mood and let my creativity flow again. By the way, this is an AU. Hope you guys like it. Comment and tell me what you thought on the chapter.
