The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: An Alternate Ending

I made this alternate ending of the story of Mark Twain titled The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn because I am not satisfied with the ending of it. Huck figured out that the dead person in the cave was his father. It was a tragic story.

I made it more tragic between the characters. LOL

Tom’s stay in the hospital took a month.  After, Tom decided to go home rather than being with Huck Finn and Jim. A week passed after their last meeting. One morning, Huck Finn received a call from Jim. “Have you received the news that the government just announced?” Jim asked. “Huh? What news?” Huck curiously answered. “We are all free now!” Jim happily shouted at Huck. “That is the only news you have there?” Huck feels disappointed. Jim paused for a second for he still wondering why Huck sounds like so innocent. “Seriously, what do you really want to tell me? Is there something important that I still do not know?” Huck asked. Jim cannot talk for it is too weird for him not to know. “He is dead” Jim whispers. Jim murmurs that what he was trying to say—the call was ended. Huck hangs the phone up. Huck wanders, “why is he like that?”

The day after yesterday, Huck went to the town to buy some food to eat. Suddenly, he saw some posters about massacres in their city without knowing that Huck is one of the reasons of the happenings. He is too busy being alone in his life. Now that he is not living with Tom and Jim anymore. Huck is talking to himself while walking along the street. “Why do people like to tease somebody?”  Huck just swings his head.

On a balcony, Tom is having tea and slightly sleepy. A bird is flying around his head and it makes him dizzy. Suddenly, he thought of Huck Finn. “How is he now?” Tom whispered. “He often visits me and know how I am maybe he already forget our built friendship. Wait, how is he going to do that? If he is still the reason why there are lots of troubles in the town today. Do I really have to keep it to myself?”

Tom is in a siesta mode that time. He stood up and went to the town also. He accidentally saw Huck walking alone on the street and immediately run towards him. “Huck, where have you been? How are you? How is-- Hmmm.” Tom asked. Huck Finn is shocked and turn his body slowly and said “Who are you, Sir? “Don’t you remember me? Huck this is me, Tom!” Tom happily replied. “What are you doing here, Tom? “Nothing I am just roaming around. There is nothing good staying in the house and so I decided to have some walk around our place.” “Okay, I bought some food. Do you want some? Why not visit my house? Let’s chat.” “Huck, wait. I am going to think of it first.”

Huck had a long walk with Tom until they reach Huck’s home. Tom opened a topic about Jim. “When was your last chat with Jim?” Tom asked. “It was a very long time since I talked to him.” Huck replied. “Actually, I know where Jim is.” Tom said.  Huck is surprised and said “Really?! Where is he now? “Somewhere down the road.” Tom sung.  While Tom is singing the song Huck accidentally dropped the cup of hot coffee. “Somehow, he is fine now. Living in a place where peace is.” Tom said. “Peace? Oh yes, he just called.” Huck said and smiled at Tom. “What did he tell you, Huck?” Huck didn’t say anything. He just walked towards the kitchen and gets something to eat.

Tom sat down on a couch and sips a coffee without knowing that Huck is kind of feeling curious about of his moves and words. “Are you sure that Jim is fine, Tom?” “Yes! Seriously” “Well, then why are you telling me this kind of things? Why are we talking about Jim?” Tom didn’t speak. Huck feels like there is something different with Tom. “Should I know something that I do not know?” Huck shouted. “Huck, be calm. I know you don’t know yet just happened. I will tell you now just calm down.” Huck calms down and sat on a chair. “Here it goes. Jim is dead.” “Tom? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?” “I just said it. He is dead, seriously. He died when we separated. It was my first day out of the hospital when her mom called and tells me that their house got massacred. That is the top issue now at the town. Everyone is alarmed of it. I do not know how to tell you this because you will be surprised.” “Who is the person who talked to me?” “It was I, Huck” “So, the things you really want to tell me are he is free from being slave because he is gone? You also want to tell about his situation?” “You got it right, Huck. Do you want me to help solving massacre problems?” “Wait, what am I going to do that? I don’t want to die yet! Do it by yourself.” “If you want to solve Jim’s case, you will help me, right Huckleberry Finn” Tom whispered it at Huck’s ear.  Tom pushes Huck to help him in solving the massacre cases.  There is a certain goal that Tom wants to finish.

“Let’s do this!” Huck seriously said. The preparation for their plan took a week. Tom made a plan for their moves on solving a case. Huck prepared for the things that they will need if there is something that is going to happen unexpectedly. Tom studied each case and Huck securely shuts his mouth.

A month has passed. Tom and Huck go over their plan and went to the place that the massacre group will go next. At a house just near by their village was a house of a family that is wealthy. They keep an eye of the house by the evening, late at night. While Huck is straightly focused on the gate and Tom had gone somewhere. Huck gets worried for Tom isn’t back an hour already. Huck walked beside the gate and look for Tom and suddenly someone covered his face.

Tom appeared beside him and he is tied too. “What is happening?” Huck asked. “I don’t know, Huck” Tom sacredly answered. A guy suddenly appeared at the back of Huck and saw. “JIM?” Tom and Huck shouted. Tom is shocked. “Why are you still alive?” “I do not know” Jim said. “I just killed you!” Tom shockingly said. “Tom, you killed Jim?” Huck confusedly turns his head slowly. “You are the one of carried me and hangs me?” “Jim, no I didn’t. Why would I do that?” Tom replied. Jim untied Huck Finn and gets a gun and aims it at Tom but Huck covers Tom while Huck is wounded by a bullet.  Tom’s tied body is broken. Tom immediately steals the gun that is Jim’s holding. Huck survived from the bullet and shoots Jim and after the bullet Jim received, Tom accidentally shoots himself by the use of the gun that he was trying to steal from Jim. Until then, no one discover who killed them. Only the person who saw them last night and that was the girl who typed their story. I am Carlisle, not my real name but I am the little girl who was awake that night and saw everything that happened inside our garage. I am Jim’s little sister who always follows his words and follows his footsteps being a good fellow in our town but that was just a miserable night for me to see, saw by my eyes. It is good that I know that time what is the difference between good and bad.

“There is nothing nice in pretending and lying in both of your friends and especially to the person ones you trusted.” Carlisle whispered to end the story.
