Chapter 60: Hidden Shusui

It was three in the afternoon when Seiran decided to check on how Jyuusan is training the soldiers the following day after the horseback incident. Shuuei followed him since they both had nothing to do. Ryuuki is busy in his office and he did not look like he is planning to go anywhere. They just told the guards to watch him carefully and alert them immediately if something happens.

Shuuei and Seiran's eyes widened when they saw Shuurei fighting with Jyuusan. They are both sparring swords and the lady soldiers are silently watching. The two hid their presence and watched unseen.

''You have improved a lot Shuurei-chan,'' Jyuusan praised.

''I trained while I was on travel. It was really useful since there are times when I encounter goons. I'm glad you thought me,'' Shuurei smiled.

''But at your level, you cannot defeat me. We are demonstrating for hidden weapons so you can use any. How can you escape from a stronger opponent?'' Jyuusan challenged.

Shuurei grinned at that. ''Fine then.'' She got a smoke bomb which is from Rin and threw it the ground. She and Jyuusan both backed away as it exploded. That is how Shuurei could escape. Seiran and Shuuei are impressed.

Jyuusan clapped her hands when the smoke cleared. She and Shuurei are at the opposite ends. ''Maybe I'll ask Rin-chan to reproduce a lot of those for my soldiers,'' Jyuusan thought out loud. ''Shusui onee-chan you're next,'' she called and Shuuei's eyes widened. Shuurei sat down to watch.

Shusui who was sitting under a tree that covered her from Shuuei and Seiran's point of view, stood up and walked near Jyuusan. ''Sure. You can attack me now,'' she challenged. The military officers, including Seiran and Shuuei; gasped.

No one has ever challenged Jyuusan empty handed. But Jyuusan knew that Shusui is not empty handed. She smiled mischievously and sheathed one of her swords. If she attacked Shusui now, she would instantly be defeated. She knew Shusui has hidden weapons. The soldiers were confused when they saw Jyuusan backing away from Shusui.

''Good decision,'' Shusui praised. Shuuei and Seiran noticed that she had her hair tied and she is not wearing her usual clothes either. She still looked beautiful though. The military officers are also confused since last time they saw this woman was when she came to heal Jyuusan. She looked very lady like then and it seemed impossible for her to be able to fight.

Jyuusan threw a blade aimed at Shusui's head and Shuuei and Seiran gasped. ''How could she attack like that someone she just called onee-chan?'' Seiran mumbled.

''I have seen Shusui hold a weapon before but that was when she was hypnotized,'' Shuuei is pale with worry.

Shusui easily dodged the blade though and it was implanted on a tree behind her. Then she suddenly threw three blades which she had hidden in her clothes and Jyuusan parried all of it with her sword. Shusui run to her and attacked with more blades and Jyuusan was on the defensive. Shusui's attacks are fast and silent. Everyone was astounded.

Shuuei and Seiran noticed that Shusui's footsteps were silent. They almost cannot hear it despite her chasing Jyuusan around. Her movements, even the way she walked or run are that of someone skilled in martial arts. She also threw blades with incredible strength. They are now seeing something they had never seen in Shusui before. They continued observing her and noticed that her silent attacks are that of an assassin.

''Was Shusui-dono a member of the assassin dolls before?'' Seiran thought out loud.

''Perhaps,'' Shuuei replied in a whisper. ''Just how many blades did she hide in her clothes?'' he thought as he watched her throw blade after blade.

When Shusui's blades finally run out, Jyuusan's turn to attack came. She unhesitatingly slashed and stabbed with both her swords and Shusui perfectly dodged every time. And when Jyuusan tried to attack again, she was surprised when she cannot move both her swords. She looked down and saw it was wrapped in tiny strings of what seemed like a metal thread. ''What's this?'' she thought out loud. 'When did she wrap this around my sword?'

Shusui smiled and pulled the threads. Jyuusan's twin blades flew into the air and Shusui threw it far from its owner. Everyone who are watching were awestruck. Shuurei had gaped at Shusui the first time she had seen her hold a weapon and yet she is doing it again now.

Jyuusan realized that one of her wrists is also tied by a string. Her eyes widened and instantly got a dagger in her clothes and cut it. ''You're mine,'' she heard Shusui's voice say, suddenly behind her. Shusui is pointing a blade on her throat, her last one. The audience gasped loudly.

''Not so fast,'' Jyuusan grinned and hit Shusui's arm so her last blade fell. Her own dagger is pointed at Shusui's belly. Shusui quickly backed away. 'That was fast,' Jyuusan thought. She did not hear Shusui ran behind her. She just got distracted for a second at the string that had been tied to her wrist and Shusui was instantly behind her. She could not believe it.

Shusui is out of weapons now and it was her turn now to run away and dodge from Jyuusan's attacks. Jyuusan was wise to keep her distance. She kept on throwing blades too until when she run out of it. She attacked to stab and slash with the dagger.

The priestess knew that the dagger was Jyuusan's last weapon too. She just needed to take that away. She distanced herself from Jyuusan and pretended to lower her guard. She smiled victoriously when Jyuusan threw the dagger aimed straight to her chest. She easily dodged it. ''Now both of us are empty handed,'' Shusui beamed.

''It's not yet over,'' Jyuusan positioned for hand to hand combat. She is having fun to finally fight equally with all her strength with a woman just like her. She smiled happily when Shusui positioned for hand to hand combat too and attacked first.

''Wha - ?? She can fight that way too?'' Shuuei was amazed and surprised at the same time.

''You've got a dangerous woman,'' Seiran commented as a praise but Shuuei misunderstood.

''I'm not the only one. You should be reminded that my fiancé there is tumbling with your future wife,'' Shuuei huffed.

''What the hell was that?! You're suddenly throwing your sister to me. You really want me to have a living hell. That little monster can marry anyone she wanted for all care. I would even cheer for her,'' Seiran snapped.

''Oho. Then cheer for her as she goes off to Shouka-sama,'' Shuuei teased.

A cold sweat run down Seiran's face. ''Just not Dana-sama. Anyone but him.'' She watched Jyuusan fight with Shusui. He shook his head. He would not allow that woman get near Shouka.

Jyuusan and Shusui kept on fighting. They are both panting and beads of sweat are forming on their pretty faces. ''You are not going to admit defeat are you?'' Shusui asked with a smile.

''Of course not. This is fun,'' Jyuusan smiled back. They kept on fighting until when both of them ended up lying on the ground and laughing at each other.

Shuurei smiled in amazement as she watched the two. ''It's a draw,'' she declared, knowing fully well that no one is giving up. The two beauties who are now sweaty and dirty nodded and helped each other get up. They are both exhausted now.

Jyuusan explained something to her awed soldiers before she dismissed them.

Sorry if my chapters are too long. I am obsessed with with Saiunkoku Monogatari and so I will write in this fanfiction as much as I like. I can't stop from myself. Ha ha.
