I stood there, at my bus stop, watching the cars as they pass by. One was green, one was white, one was red, and one was brown. I have no clue why these colors interested me, but I just kept observing anyway.
My father died a few years ago, and he was the one who would provide for my mother and I. He was a lawyer. He was always stressed out with the piles of paperwork he had to finish. My mother didn't know much about finances, so Dad would always pay the bills and do the taxes. His death was devastating, and put a huge burden on me and my mother. He dedicated his will to his sister, and not my mother. She now works two jobs, and I barely get to see her anymore. She cant afford to buy me a phone because her main priority is keeping us financially stable and preventing me from being hungry, so the only source of communication I have with her is the notes she writes to me and leaves on the countertop. They usually say "there are pop-tarts you can toast" or "we don't have any bread left so just make a salad". These notes get on my nerves most of the time, but I applaud my mom for making time to write me notes considering how busy she is, although she doesn't write them often.
I got on the bus and saw a bunch of unfamiliar faces. After all, it was my first day of school since we moved to Virginia. My mother and I moved because there were better job opportunities and lower taxes than there were in Manhattan. I sat across from a boy who had light brown hair, and beautiful, hazel eyes. We made eye contact, and he smiled at me. Without hesitation, I turned away because I could feel my face burning hot. He was just so damn hot! Some girl from behind me tapped my shoulder.
"How do you feel that the Jacob Sartorius just smiled at you?" she whisper-yelled.
"Um, who?" I replied back.
"What, do you live under a rock? Like do you not have a phone?" she looked at me with a disgusted look on her face "He is the 'young prince' Jacob Sartorius!"
"No, I do not have a phone, and no, I have no clue in hell who Jacob Stegosaurus is.."
"It's Sartorius, and now I know your a poor loser.." she said rolling her eyes.
Great, best first 10 minutes of school ever.
We finally arrived at school, as I got out of the bus, the hot Jacob guy bumped into me. He didn't say sorry, but he stared at me for what seemed like an hour long. I wondered why and I wanted to ask him, but he walked away.
I walked into the school and saw a bunch of boys wrestling each other. I walked to the office and asked them for my schedule, lock, and combination. I put my lock on a random locker next to my homeroom and then entered my homeroom. I sat down in my assigned seat and labeled all of my school supplies with my name using a black sharpie marker. I saw Jacob enter the room. Crap, he's in my homeroom? The homeroom teacher looked at him and pointed to the seat right next to mine. There's no way in hell I'm letting him sit here. He approached the chair and sat on it. He smiled at me. I never saw his teeth up until now, but they are so white and beautiful.
"And we meet again," he smiled. "Hi, I'm Jacob."
"For the third time. And, hi, I'm Bella."
"Well, you know what they say! Third times the charm!"
I laughed. "We'll have to see."
"Had anyone told you how pretty you are?" he asked looking deeply into my eyes. "Like the beautiful kind of pretty, like the flawless, gorgeous kind of pretty?"
I looked down at my old, worn down shoes. "No, not really." I said while half smiling and still looking down.
"I doubt it, no one has every told you that you were the most gorgeous girl in the world?"
"Well there's a first time for everything."
He smiled and shook his head and looked down. He ripped a piece of paper out of his notebook. I didn't bother to look at what he was writing. He then put the piece of paper in my pocket and whispered call me later in my ear.
"Guess what, Jacob! The hoe doesn't have a phone!" The mean girl from the bus yelled from across the room.
"Then, Bella. Meet me at the park after school?"
I smiled and nodded and continued to label my school supplies.
