It was a hot summer afternoon, it was around 4 in the afternoon, a little boy with fancy clothes and two small horns atop his head sat on a fallen tree in a forest, the canopy helps shelter him from the heat a bit but he's still uncomfortably hot, but he doesn't care, any other day he would, any other day he would be making sure no one was nearby, but today he was too distracted, he was too busy crying to care at the moment. That is, until you make your presence known,"Why are you crying?" The abrupt words startle the boy, he accidentally falls off the log and you gasp. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, are you okay?" The little boy looks up at you, your a little girl around the same age as him, he studies your (h/l) and (h/c) hair and your (s/c) colored skin for a moment before his eyes flicker down at the hand you're holding out to him.
"This is a trick, isn't it?" Says the boy, squinting his eyes at you, trying to find any faults in the façade he thinks you're creating.
"What?" You make a confused face. "Why would I be trying to trick you?" You ask whole hearted, genuinely wondering where the boy could've gotten such an idea.
"No one's ever nice to me unless they're trying to play a trick on me, 'cause everyone hates me." Says the boy like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"What?" You ask, surprised behind the reason he's giving you. "Why does everyone hate you?" You ask as you furrow your eyebrows. The boy makes a face before responding.
"I'm a demon," he points to the tiny horns growing on his head, "all humans hate demons. Your going to push me and call me a monster because demons deserve it." The boy says it in a tone that makes it sound obvious.
"Well who told you that?" You ask him. "'Cause I don't believe it, my mommy always used to tell me that if they're truly sorry about it, then everyone deserves a second chance, demon or no demon. Besides, you haven't given me a reason to call you a monster or anything, so why would I?" The demon boy looks baffled by the method of thinking you and your mother share, it sounds too good to be true to him.
Were you going to help him up just to push him down and laugh at him call him an ugly monster? He was snapped out of his thoughts by your voice. "Um hello? Earth to boy I just met?" You say, waving your small hand in front of his face. "So, are you going to let me help you up or are you starting to get comfy down there?" You ask with a light giggle, your small hand still outstretched, waiting for him to grab it.
He has one last weary glance at your hand before he grabs it, you pull him up. "You never answered my question, why where you crying?" You ask. The boy flinches and hesitates for a moment before deciding to tell you.
"I-I was crying because nobody wants to be my friend, I always try to tell them that I just wanna be friends but they always either yell at me or they get scared and start crying." He starts looking down at the grassy ground sadly, fiddling with his fingers.
"Well you don't have to cry anymore," you say to him in a assertive tone, the boy looks back up at you with wide eyes, "'cause if you want, I'll be your friend." The demon boy makes a small gasp of surprise,
"R-really? You'll be my friend?" Asks the boy, eyes wide in wonder.
"Sure! My name's (l/n) (y/n), what's yours?" You ask him.
"My name's Oikawa Tooru, i-it's nice to meet you, (y/n)-chan!" The demon boy says and smiles, tiny fangs visible. You giggle.
"Nice to meet you too, Tooru-kun!" You grin at him, "So what do ya wanna do, new friend?" A small smile appears on Tooru's face when you call him your friend,
"W-well um, I-I've always wanted to climb a tree, but I don't know how..." The demon boy trails off. Without warning, you grab his small hand in yours and start running,
"Oh! I know! I can show you how to climb a tree! And, I know the perfect tree to climb too, it has a pretty view of the sun setting!" You say excitedly, slowing down as you reached your destination, it was a little clearing with a little spot where just enough trees were missing for you to both be able to see the sun starting to set if you climbed the tree together. "Alright, stand right here," you let go of his hand and point to a spot in front of the tree, "and I'll show you how to climb this tree."
