you visit your garden every day
one by one you water the flowers,
giving them all exactly what they need
you give some flowers more water,
and some less
the prettiest get the most water,
and the unappealing get the least
although,
why do you keep them in your garden
if you're not going to water them?
is it so you can boast about the size
of your garden?
so you can show off how many flowers
you have?
even though they're almost dead,
they stay in your garden
they know that you're the only one
giving them water
they use the last bit of strength
they have to hold on
they wait,
day after day hoping that
you'll finally decide to give them
more water than the rest
although you never do
they know that you had to have
planted them for a reason
but they just watch as you give the
prettier flowers more water
the prettier flowers are getting everything
they need
while the other flowers are suffering,
wondering why they're still there
occasionally you'll give the other flowers
water whenever you're feeling bored
and the flowers get excited that you're finally
paying attention to them
and they remember that you didn't forget
about them
when in reality,
they're just there to make you look good
