Silence was my salvation. My name is Raina, I was 17 when i lost my hearing,and while most people found this sad and unfortunate, I considered it a blessing. When I was younger, mostly in middle school I got bullied. I was the over weight girl with the glasses and freckles. My grades were too high and my self-esteem was too low for anyone to like me. Walking down the hall ways hearing the mean things the other children had to say about me was pure torture. The summer after eight grade I knew I needed a new start. I stopped eating and exercised twice a day. Over the course of the summer I cut my body weight in half. I thought everything would change,i really thought things were looking up......dear god was I wrong. That year was just as bad as one pervious ones,and that was the year my parents divorced. The argument was never ending,even after mom moved out. My dad was always angry,and I was the only one he could take it out on. He was angry about mom,about work,about money,about me. I got held back that year and he was livid.
