all the memories they're haunted...

Brenda smiles to herself when she sees the familiar face sat alone eating lunch. It wasn't the fact that they were eating alone that made her smile, but the fact no one was there to warn them of her appearance. Creeping up behind them she puts her hands over their eyes before they can turn round to face her.
"Guess who?" She asks with a grin on her face.
"Oh I don't know, Brenda maybe?" The female replies, matching the grin on her face.
"You guessed correctly." Brenda moves her hands from the female's eyes and sits down opposite her.
Since the accident and losing her memory, Brenda had spoken to Rosie the most. Them both becoming close extremely quickly, especially after Lucy left the hospital. As much as Brenda wanted to become close with all her old friends again, it was hard to fit them all into a schedule and the whole concept of it seemed exhausting to Brenda. So instead she just rolled up whenever she felt like it and hung out with whoever she could find, this was normally Rosie.
"Where have you been stranger? I haven't seen you all day." Rosie asks keeping up the smile as she finishes her food.
"Just here, there and everywhere." Brenda replies, avoiding the question the best she can. Truth be told, she was spending quite a lot of time with Blake. When she wasn't with him, she was either sleeping, eating or going to occupational therapy. There she learnt to try and replace her old forgotten memories with new ones. The only problem was she hated it. A lot of time was taken talking about her and emotions and that wasn't something she enjoyed sharing. She would much rather just watch tv or read books all day then go there. Especially because a new season of The Flash was starting and after she'd been told by Lucy that she'd liked that show before the accident, she had binged watched it and fallen in love. Whether it was with Grant or the show was besides the point.

"You're avoiding the question." Rosie points out before raising an eyebrow at her friend. "Lucy and Megs miss you, whenever they come around now you're nowhere to be found. Oh and don't even get my started on Nate, that poor boy. He travels all this way and gets time out of the studio to come see you and then can't find you. He just mopes around with Lucy all day looking for you."
"Lucy eh?" Brenda replies, it was her turn to raise an eyebrow.
"What about Lucy?"
"Is there anything going on between them two?"
"Why would there be anything going on between them? He comes for you not her, if anything he likes you. Maybe that's why he comes back day after day even though you're nowhere to be found... Oh..."
"What?"
"Nate totally likes you..."
"No, he doesn't. I mean we're just friends, or were just friends... I don't know, the whole situation is just confusing. Let's not get started on it."
"If you're so certain that he doesn't like you then make me a deal."
"What?"
"He normally comes here everyday at about 3 which is in just over an hour. When he comes actually show up for once, hang out and after that if there's no sign that he likes you, be honest with me, then I will drop the entire subject."
"This is a guy's emotions we're talking about, how am I supposed to know if he likes me? Which he doesn't."
"I don't know? Look at the way he acts, just don't be the oblivious girl you normally are. Actually think about the fact that he could like you, and just, I don't know, see if you think someone who would like you would act that way."
"Fine, but only so you'll drop the subject." Brenda replies with a roll of her eyes. "Now can we stop talking about this please?"
"Yes, we can..." Rosie pauses for a moment, uncertain as to if she should ask the question that she was going around her head. "How are you doing? Like honestly?"
"I'm great, just peachy." Brenda lies with a smile.
"You're lying."
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are, you do this thing when you're lying, and you're doing it right now. Come on, seriously what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong..."
"You don't have to tell me, I get that, but if you did maybe want to talk about it, I'm here for you. Always. Any time, any day. Just come find me." Brenda looks at Rosie with an appreciative smile, it was strange how something like that could mean so much to Brenda. Knowing someone was there for her was something she really did appreciate, especially now when she felt like she'd lost everyone.
"Thanks Rosie, I appreciate it."
"You don't need to thank me, just hug me."
So Brenda and Rosie awkwardly hug over the table, trying not to get their hair or clothes in the food.

Waiting for Nate to arrive was torture to Brenda. The seconds that passed felt like minutes and it was slowly driving her crazy. She wants to get the whole thing over and done with but at the same time she's thankful for the minutes between her and seeing Nate again. Last time they'd spoken, he'd cried - a lot. She doesn't even think she has it in her to face him so honestly she had been trying to avoid him, just a little bit. Maybe Rosie was right, maybe he did like her, maybe that's why he'd been so distraught.
