Zirish has been dreading the arrival of her first day in school, not because she's afraid she won't fit in or that other students might not like her, but because she dislikes school.

"Zai, hurry up. We're gonna be late," Sebastian urged his sister on the phone.

She was still in her room doing a last minute packing. Anything to delay us from going to school, she thought.

"Don't make me carry you to school, Zai," he warned.

"Oh, don't be so overdramatic. Being late once in a while isn't such a big deal," Zirish said as she slung the bag on her shoulders and head downstairs to the lobby. Sebastian had been waiting half an hour for her to meet him downstairs since the boys' and girls' dorm were separated.

When she arrived, Sebastian turned to face her and said, "What do you mean it isn't such a big deal. Today's our first day and you know what that means."

Oh right, Zirish realized. She remembered that as the freshmen representative, her brother was going to make an appearance at the opening ceremony. But she pretended otherwise, "What does it mean again?"

Seeing the icy glare her brother's been sending her, Zirish raised her hands up, as if to surrender. She doesn't want to pick a fight with her brother, no sane person does.

"Fine, fine. As you wish, your majesty," Zirish said, faking a bow.

"Hurry," he grabbed her hand and lead her towards the administration building, which was a couple hundred metres away.

After awhile, the building was now visible. There was a fountain in the middle of the school ground, just before the building. It was a four-metre high sculpture of four different beings she had guessed their ancestors.

The two of them were now trudging through the school's crowded corridors, bumping onto something each step they make. Since it was the first day of school, students crowded the hallways trying to mingle and explore the school every chance they get.

Zirish steadied her breathing as she finally arrived at the end of the corridor, where there were lesser students walking about. She looked to her left and saw two students making their way towards her, looking intently at someone standing behind.

Both of them were wearing the standard uniform for Hughes Academy for the Gifted; a two tab skooter skirt that ended three inches above the knee for the girls and a standard pants for the boys, both paired with a white polo, blue-striped necktie/bowtie and a blazer.

A voice from their side said, "Hello. Welcome to Hughes Academy for the Gifted. If I'm not mistaken you must be Sebastian Chase, right?"

The girl looked like someone straight from a fashion magazine, with long straight blonde hair and silver-grey eyes. Her eyes glazing through them like they were her prey, giving off an aura of sophistication and regality.

Beside her stood a guy who was about a year younger than the girl who spoke. He was giving Zirish a look as if her mere presence disgusts him. He clearly was not a fan.

"Yes, your are not mistaken," Sebastian responded, giving them a charming smile. He had been expecting the two to appear before him some time before the opening ceremony, something about his representative speech.

"I don't mean to be rude, but you guys are?" Zirish asked.

The guy with ocean-blue eyes looked at her murderously, causing her to flinch back a little.

Yeah, typical. He's treating her like she's some kind of trash because he obviously sees her as a second rate elemental.

The girl with the blonde hair cleared her throat. "I apologize.. where are my manners. I'm the student council president, Alexandra Candor," Alexandra said, stretching her hand towards the two..
