The only thing left that I had to grab was my plane tickets which were on the counter in the kitchen.
"Are you ready, hun?" My mom called from downstairs. A cold chill ran up my spine as I circled around my empty bedroom.
"Yeah!" I finally called back, standing up from my bare bed. I walked to the car slowly, pulling my suitcases behind me.
"The rest of your things should be at Jenn's house by Thursday." she informed me. I looked across at her, taking in every detail. The wrinkles in her forehead from years of stress, the lack of muscle in her eyebrow due to the accident she had when she was younger, the way her eyebrows furrow together as she looks down the long stretch of highway.

"I love you, mom." I told her, because I do, and I wanted her to know that.
"Oh sweetie," she puckered out her lower lip, "I love you too."
I smiled back over at her and looked out my window. Maybe you're confused on why I'm leaving, but this should clear it up right away.

Hi, I'm Juliet Anna Lawrence. I'm 22 years old and I still live lived at home. That was until I couldn't take anymore of my boyfriend of 4 years abusing me nor my mother and father taking blows at each other. I have a brother who's older by 11 months, so we're practically twins. Dean dropped out of high school when he had 3 months left to graduate. He couldn't take anymore of the fighting either, so he left with his band. I talk to him almost everyday, even though I can never truly forgive him for leaving me. Finally, I was ready to take on my own world; I was moving to California. Not just anywhere in California, I was going to LA. My cousin Jennifer is a pretty popular actress, but I just see her as my closest cousin. Now I'm moving into the extra bedroom in her condo, starting a new life with new friends.

Saying goodbye to my mother was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. She's given me everything I could ask for, even though it's been a long and rough life.
"Call me as soon as you land," she told me, her small, fragile arms were wrapped around my arms.
"I will, I promise." She hugged me one last time and kissed my forehead. I waved to her and continued to walk to security. For a while I sat there reading Water For Elephants, then we were finally beginning to board. I waved one final time to my mom before walking down the terminal.

The flight wasn't too long, I was too anxious to Jenn and I were the closest out of all the cousins. We were the only girls, so you can pretty much figure why. She told me to walk straight when I got off the plane until I found her.
I stuffed my phone in my purse, then followed her directions. The smell of coffee distracted me, so I got some. My phone started to vibrate, Jenni's picture on the screen.
"Hello?" I answered, walking back towards the bathrooms.
"Don't be mad." she said, making me roll my eyes. "I had to shoot an extra scene today, so I had a friend of mine pick you up."
"Jennifer." I whined, leaning against the wall.
"I'm sorry! Just look for someone with a sign that says your name."
"Jenn. Do you know how common the name Juliet is?" I said sarcastically, searching as I went down the stairs.
"Look, I'm sorry. Alex is a nice guy, don't worry."

I sighed and reluctantly looked around for a sign. Of course I assumed Alex was a chick, so I began looking around for my name. I found it being held by a gorgeous blond with a big build and spiky hair.
"I'm Juliet." I smiled, holding my hand out.
"Alex." he smiled back, then turned to the baggage claim. "Do you have a lot of bags?"
"Not really." I replied, walking towards the circling bags. He grabbed 2 while I grabbed a duffel bag.
"Thank you for your help." I smiled, loading the bags into the back of his car.
"No problem." he smiled. We walked to the front of the car and drove off.

I stared out at the city, seeing crowded traffic and tall buildings.
"Are you excited to be living in the big L.A?" Alex asked, playing with the radio.
"Absolutely." I smiled, "I really needed a get away."
"From?" I licked my lips and looked over to him.
"Family." I almost whispered, pulling my phone out to read a text from Jennifer.
I'm sorrrrry. I LOVE YOU I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU I PROMISE XO
