"Oh my god, Where is it?! Where is it!?" I screamed while looking frantically around my bed. It wasn't anywhere to be found! Cole would be pissed at me if he knew I lost it. He gave me a necklace with a tiny imprint of an Albino snake on it and when I woke up it wasn't there. The silver chain wore strong against my neck and the diamond at the end of its tail shone bright. I couldn't believe I lost it already. I also lost Cole, but I wasn't nearly as worried because if he was here right now, he would see me looking for the necklace. I got up to look down at the couch that I slept on at his house. Maybe it was in plain sight but I just couldn't see it. Nope...it still wasn't there.
I wandered around the room. I don't know why I did this, but it was my last hope. I turned on the light that was on the far end of the wall to see easier. "I found it!" I yelled as I ran over to the necklace. It was sitting on the television? That was weird. I quickly grabbed it and put it on my neck. I turned around and was about to go find Cole when I seen him leaning against the door post.
"Good morning, love." He said with a smile on his face.
"How long have you been down here?" I said eyes wide as I looked at him cautiously.
"Long enough, but don't worry. I'm sure you didn't purposely do that considering you went to bed with it on and then woke up with it on top of the T.V. Which is kind of weird, I suppose"
"I'm so sorry, Cole! I swear I didn't mean to!"
"I know." He said kissing the top of my head. "I just want you to know that I love you. I wouldn't have given you it if I didn't."
"What is it anyways?" I whispered.
"Well... let me tell you a little about it then. See, my great-grandmother was the first to be part of the Albino snakes. When you get bitten by one of our kind -half human, half snake- you become one. She doesn't know who did it to her, though. That's as far back as we know. She's not my real grandmother... she tried to help us. My whole family was in a mode where nothing was possible anymore. Becoming what we are was the best thing that ever happened to us because it gives us a new start. The necklace that I gave you is given to all of us. If one of us falls in love, they are their 'mate', you could say, so they get one to... I love you Anna and I know this is moving fast but I know that we were meant to be together."
I couldn't think of words to come out of my mouth. He sounded so intimate and what could I possibly say to that? Finally words came to my mouth. "I know we're meant to be together. And if I didn't, then I wouldn't be here already. We would be taking it slower but I know there's no point." Because I'm madly in love with you and want to be with you forever. I wanted to say those words, but I didn't want to sound obsessive, so I kept them in. He kissed me on the forehead and pulled me down the hall to the kitchen. I sat on one of the bar stools as he walked to the other side.
I didn't know what I felt about Cole. I knew he was serious about being with me because I could read his eyes easily but there was something else missing. He told me the truth about him and his family just a few weeks after we met, like he could trust me with any secret in the world. I didn't know how this whole "Albino snake" thing worked but maybe he could tell if I was his true love. Right from the very start he didn't have me wondering or guessing about what he was because he just showed me and that's what made me so sure that he knew we were in love. I turned my gaze to him and smiled when I noticed that he was staring back, too, which made me delicately blush.
He walked back over to me while I still sat on the bar stool. He wrapped his arms around me and lifted me slightly off the stool so I could reach his lips as his brushed softly against mine. "Ahem." A tall blonde male stood in the doorway of the kitchen and I quickly turned away from Cole and composed myself. "Way to go, Trent. You always got to ruin a moment."
"Sorry Coley-pie. It's just so much fun." He said laughing as his face scrunched up and rubbed his nose against Cole's face jokingly.
"Jeez. Could you leave us alone?"
"Is the girl you've been talking about?" He said smiling at me and added a few extra R's in the word "girl".
"Yes, it is." Cole was still looking down on me and I felt like I was on display at a museum. "Common, Anna." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door while I was still in my pyjamas.
"Can't I at least change first?" I asked him as he walked through the front lawn.
"Don't worry... I just have to water the plants and then we're going back inside. I didn't want to leave you with Trent; he might scare you away from me." He said laughing so that I knew it was a joke.
I got changed and used the toothbrush that he gave me last night. I didn't want to seem too obsessed with him so I told him I had to leave for the afternoon but I would call him later. I got in my black Lamborghini and rolled my window down. "I love you and you better be at school on Monday." I said smiling. He had a thing for not showing up at school... I didn't understand how he still got outstanding grades anyways but I just wanted him to be there. "Don't worry... I will be." Without another word or look at his glorious self I just drove away so I couldn't make myself get out of this car and spend my day with him.
As soon as I got home I called Tiffany because I've been so caught up in my boyfriend loving world that I had no memory of what's been going on at school.
"Hello?"
"Hey Tiff, it's Anna."
"Hey! God I miss you, it's like you're not even in this world anymore!"
"Yea... I know that's why I called! I need you to tell me what's been going on at school and stuff... obviously a lot of drama?"
"You have no idea! This week's been amazing! I can't believe you would miss this many things but oh well. Amy is pregnant!" She said over the phone line as shock took over.
"Like Goth Amy?! Who would want to knock her up?"
"I know right? But it's totally legit. She told her friend and they spread it around... it's been all over the school... surprised you missed that!"
I realized I was back to my usual self-obsessed teenage gossiper as I talked on the phone with Tiff and it felt good to get us back to normal for a while.
"Well, that's going to change things. But who did it?" I asked her, trying to think of any boyfriends she's ever had.
"Nick Brandt!" She yelled into my ear seeming surprised at her own words.
"Oh my god, are you serious?!"
"I'm totally and completely serious! I think we should become friend with her?"
"Why?" I asked wondering if she was really saying that.
"Yes. What if she becomes popular because of Nick? Then we have to be friends with her."
I heard a knock on my door and looked towards it realizing that I had to get up because my door was shut.
"Alright... but I'm not saying the first word to her, you have to! But I have to go now... someone's at my door. Bye!"
I hung up right after that not waiting for a response as I went over to my door.
There she was. It wasn't possible. How was this even possible? How did she get inside my house? No one would have let her in... or knew she was even alive right now... and there she stood, leaning lazily against my door post.
