Madison's P.O.V.
Harper doesn't need me. I am a worthless, fat, ugly person. So that's why I'm doing this. I stood on the chair, looped the rope around my neck and pushed the chair back. I could feel my face reddening. Then it turned purple. And then, in a few seconds, I was gone.

Harper's P.O.V.
"5, 6, 7, 8..." Mrs Jensen said. I leaped and then did a Russian Switch Leap. I fell to the floor and curled in a ball. Tomorrow was my competition and I was putting all my emotions into this dance. It was to When I See You Again, a lyrical solo. When the music stopped, I walked over to Mrs. Jensen and she handed me a bag with my costume (picture). I thanked her and walked out of the room.

Ms. Johnson was waiting for me by my bag. I stuffed my solo costume in my bag with my trio and group costume (picture). I followed Ms. Johnson out to the car. Once we were driving, Ms. Johnson looked at me through the mirror.
"Harper. Madison committed suicide this morning. There is no one that is related to you that can adopt you. You are now up for adoption. Anyone can adopt you." She said. I was speechless.

Why would she do that? Madison knew I needed her. When we pulled up to the orphanage, I jumped out and ran to my room. I cried into my pillow. There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." I mumbled. I felt someone climb into bed with me. I looked over to see Sophia.(picture) She was 4.
"What's up, Soph?" I said quickly wiping away my tears. Sophia was like my baby sister. I had to stay strong for her. My problems are nothing compared to what she has to go through. She has asthma, her parents abused her like heck.

"You are crying." She said. I shook my head and set her on my lap. She leaned into me.
"No. I'm not, boo." I kissed her head.
"Can you dance for me after dinner." She asked. I nodded.
"Girls dinner is ready!" Ms. Johnson yelled. I put on my pajamas, put on Sophia's pajamas and then carried her down to the table.

Sophia's P.O.V.
Harper set my down on my chair next to her and a girl named Emily. She was mean to me. Her hand reached out and pinched my leg. I screamed. Harper glared at Emily and held me in her arms.
"HARPER!! Put her down." Mr. Franklin said. Harper jumped and set me back on my chair.
~time skip after dinner~
Harper kissed my head and covered me with my blankets.
"Goodnight Harper." I whispered and fell asleep.

Dream
"Sophia! Come here." My dad said. He sounded good. I ran to him. He was sitting on the couch. He picked my up and carried me to the basement. Down there, he chained me to a table. I was in an 'x' position. He pushed down on my stomach. I couldn't breath vey well. Screams came out of my mouth. This was new to me. Sure I've been hurt but not like this. My father raised a fist and...
Dream over

I wake up to see Harper. She puts me on her lap and carries me to her bed. She lays us down and starts to to sing. (Video)
"What happened?" Harper asked once she was done.
"Daddy." I mumbled. She wraps her arms around me protectively.
"It's ok." She says when I start crying. "He's in a place where he can never get you." I nod. She strokes my hair until I'm asleep.

Pats P.O.V.
The officer looked at us.
"Get to bed." He yelled and walked away. Jen and I were in a prison in Georgia. Her cell mate was a girl named Emma. I was with Dave. He was here for beating his daughter. Emma was his wife. I laid down in bed and tried to fall asleep but I couldn't. Harper was always on my mind. At least she was living with Madison and not some random family. Thinking about Harper, my eyes closed and I drifted to sleep.

~time skip to morning~
"Mr. Brown. We have some news for you." An officer said, waking me up. I slowly lifted my head to meet his gaze.
"What?" I asked, finally.
"The girl, Madison, who is supposed to watching Harper, had committed suicide yesterday. Yesterday was her 18 birthday which would have been the day she got to take custody of Harper. Now, Harper will be up for adoption. Anyone can adopt her." The officers words stunned me.
"Did you tell Jen?" I asked. He shook his head and left.

"What orphanage is she at?" Dave asked.
"I think it is at the same one we adopted her from." I shook my head. "I can't remember the name but the main person is Ms. Johnson." Dave looked surprised.
"That's where my daughter is!" Dave exclaimed. I didn't pay attention to what else he was saying. Something about how she is 4... Or something like that.
"Attention! Now is breakfast. An officer will be around to you soon. Thank you!" The secretary said through the announcements. I guard came around and brought me and Dave to the cafeteria. I sat by Jen and we talked about Harper. She was upset that Madison let Harper down. The rest of the day was as dull as always.

Harper's P.O.V.
When I got home from school, Sophia was crying in our room. I quickly changed out of my uniform (the new school has a uniform) and comforted her.
"What's wrong, Bubby?" I asked her. She clung on to my and didn't answer. I picked her up and took her outside. There was a tree out there that I helped her climb. We went up there and I sang for her. She giggled when I tickled her.
"You still haven't danced yet." She said when we were climbing down the tree.
"And you haven't told me why you were crying." I said back.

I shouldn't have said anything at all. She closed her eyes and screamed. I immediately ran to her side. But she was pulled out of my grasp. Mr. Franklin stood in front of me with Sophia in his arms.
"You made her cry!" He yelled. I opened my mouth to protest but he cut me off. "Harper, you and Sophia are forbidden to be together. And if you are seen together, you will be shipped away across the country and we will change your name so no one can find you." And with that he walked across the lawn with Sophia in his arms, his hand claimed over her mouth and at that moment, I knew I had to save her.
