Chapter 6
"Bye Dad! I'll miss you," I sniffed, trying to hold back my tears.
Dad smiled at me tenderly and pulled me into a warm hug. "I'll miss you too Kiddo." Suddenly, he released me and gave me a serious look. "Now, listen to me carefully. Don't let any strangers in, look after the house, don't skip school, eat healthy, remember you have training everyday straight after school and use protection!"
My eyes widened at the last part. "I can't believe you just said that, Dad," I stated embarrassedly, trying to hide my blush.
"Don't worry, I'm only kidding."
Of course he was, but why didn't I believe him?
A car horn beeped which meant that the taxi was already here. "I should get going." He had a huge smile on his face and I didn't blame him. This was an amazing opportunity for him. I couldn't wait to see my dad on TV. We began carrying his luggage outside. Once the suitcases were in the taxi the tears in my eyes were coming back.
"Make sure you get some autographs for me!" I wouldn't be on the verge of crying if he took me with him!
"I will, Kiddo. I'll see you in three weeks after the tournament is over." My dad hugged me one last time before he got into the taxi. He rolled down the window, stuck his head out and yelled, "Take care, Kiddo. Love you!"
"I love you too Dad," I shouted back. "Don't miss me too much. Besides, I'll probably be seeing your hideous face on TV!"
"Hideous? Don't you mean insanely handsome?"
"In your dreams, Dad," I muttered to myself.
The taxi drove off and we waved bye to each other enthusiastically. Once the vehicle was out of sight, I quickly ran back inside the house and closed the door, making sure to lock it. As soon as I reached my room I jumped onto my bed and yelled, "Free at last!"
The next few weeks were going to be awesome. Home alone for three weeks, 21 days, 504 hours or 30240 minutes. I grinned at the thought. While stretching my arms, I began rolling around on the bed, enjoying the comfortableness. I could stay like this all day.
Unexpectedly, my phone began to ring. Frantically, I began searching for my phone on my bed but that only muffled the sound. It must not be on the covers. Just when I thought that I would find my phone, it stopped ringing. Damn. Giving up, I rested my head on my pillow. All of a sudden, the ringtone blasted loudly into my ears again but this time the sound was closer and louder. Lifting up my pillow I found my phone. The stupid device was awesome at playing hide and seek.
"Hello?" I asked, not bothering to check caller ID.
"Kiddo!"
"Dad? Why are you calling me?"
"Why can't I call my awesome daughter?"
"We just saw each other less than ten minutes ago. Is something wrong? Did the taxi break down?"
"Calm down, Kiddo, I'm fine. I called to ask you whether you're still at home or not," he informed me.
I scratched my head and replied, "Yeah of course I'm still at home. Why?"
"Hmm, shouldn't you be at school?"
School! Crap! I totally forgot about that. "Can I skip school today? Please?" I begged him. I was honestly too lazy to go to school although that wasn't a surprise.
