*Madelyn's P.O.V.*

The winds breeze feels amazing. I'm so glad I used my savings on my penny board(my only way of transportation) and got out of work early. I work in an oddly popular bakery and being me I wouldn't want to work anywhere popular but it pays fairly well and gives me some time away from the 'Foster Home'.

Yeah I kinda live in a foster home because when I was younger I was abused by my father. It all started two months after my mother died when I was 11. One day he came home so drunk telling me I was what caused my mother to die and shit like that and he used to touch.... Never mind.

So now I'm 15 years old and I live in a foster home with 6 annoying children and one little adorable 6 year old boy named Carl. His parents where shot right in front of him at a park. I feel bad for him, I really do because he's such an amazing little boy. I just hope he remembers me when he leaves, which will be way before me. That is if I ever do get adopted.

Considering I'm a teen no one wants older kids its always he little kids, but as long as he gets a nice and safe home I'm fine. To be completely honest one reason im not a total ass is because of Carl. I have been through a lot and considering the fact that I don't have or have ever had any friends since I came here, but as long as Carl was here I was fine. Carl is like the little brother I have always wished for hes adorable, sweet, inhumanely hilarious, generous, so very energetic, and just so full of life. It amazes me because he is only 6 years old and just wow man his parents really must have been great people. If I'm ever sad he always knows how to cheer me up. Of course here are times he misses his parents and I have found out talking about them helps him so much.

Like when he says he and his father always played baseball together, went to Disney world, he watched his favorite Disney movies every Sunday after church with his mother and father because it would be family night, and he says they lived by the beach so they went there a lot and his favorite part was making sand castles. Carl has a little boy voice (which the most adorable thing ever) hazel eyes, and ginger hair. Im so glad we are able to share a room. I know what your thinking "omg eww gross your a girl and hes a boy" but shut up because when I change I use the bathroom and he just changes in the room. He gets to stay here because there aren't any other boys he can bunk with they are all slobs. So I having the biggest room offered my room so we now have two beds in it.

Anyway once I got home I walk in and notice a funny smell, about  to go upstairs I get stopped by Jenny. Jenny is a sweet little 9 year old but a little annoying sometimes.

"Hiya Madelyn how was work?" she asks while jumping up and down.

"Good sorry though can't talk I have to do my homework." I say jogging up the stairs to my room.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I go to an all girls school and there is way too much drama for my liking so I have no friends there either. My only friends are Carl and Ally my co-worker at the bakery.

I open the door to see Carl working on his homework listening to music on his iPod that is one thing that his mother left him. He is very accelerated for his age.

"Hey kiddo hows it going?"

"Good I only got one worksheet today!" he says happily.

He is so smart he skipped a grade making him a first grader.

"That's great buddy, but we cant go today I have to study for my exam in two days" I say feeling bad disappointing him.

"Oh its ok we can go soon though right?"

"Of course buddy when my exams are over."

"Soon?" he questions with a smile making its way to his face.

"Don't worry faster than you think kiddo." I say rubbing the top of his head messing his hair up.
