I still feel it in the air. The way the sun warms its surroundings with a yellow light and the smell of salt gets trapped on your skin like a cologne. It's all still there in a physical sense even a day after I've been off of the island.
The physical things that this summer holds will eventually fade but what will stay with me are the things I've come to find out about myself and people I had met. The actions I had done this summer are things I'd never do on the mainland and the people I met... well, they're one of a kind. Those are the things that I don't think can fade. Then there are moments I'm not sure if I want to remember considering the idiocy of a something like a summer fling. Why did I get myself caught up in such a net of emotions that I knew would only last till August? I don't think I'll ever know, but I also don't think I could ever regret it.
Here in this taxi as I pull up to my parents home one last time before I leave for college I can say that I made this summer my bitch. Time flew and things were said, places were hiked and items were lost, but most memories were made and some are burned too deeply in my brain.
Throwing the driver a few bills, I grab my bags from the trunk and proceed through my front door.
I don't even make it to my room before I drop my bags and allow myself to lay on the couch in front of me.
"Looks like the trip beat you up," my sister laughs as she walk out of the kitchen, clean a dish within her hands.
"You have no idea."
"Well, aren't you going to tell me all about it?"
"Oh, I'm ready to tell you everything. I'm not sure how to start this exactly, it's a lot."
She arches a brow, "The beginning is usually a good place to start."
"Ah, right. The beginning..."A/N: Basically this is the premise of the story. It's not going to be a story style where the brother tells the sister the story throughout the entire book. Chapter 1 will start off with the main character and his two best friends on a boat to Catalina Island in the BEGINNING of summer, just so we're clear. I needed a way to start the story with a prologue and now I'm rambling and I apologize. K bye
