The musty smell of the corridor made me sneeze, I could see the specks of dust floating around in the air. We were in DSA's new HQ, all I had to do was follow the plan, and everything would be fine. I crept down the corridor, all was silent until a loud gun shot traveled to my ears, followed by an ear piercing scream. I ran towards the scream, reaching for my weapon in case, it was a trap. I turned at the corner, skidding my feet on the smooth milky marble floor, the lights flicked, blood was everywhere. Splatters on the white walls, crimson stains in the carpet, but I wasn't worried about that, a cold, lifeless body lay in Rex's arms. His face was pale, his eyes were red from all the crying, he slowly turned his head to face me. His helpless expression immediately changed as soon as he set eyes on me, it was replaced by anger, "Why did you kill Tyrant!" I stared at him, what did he mean?
I looked closer at the body, apart from all the dirt and dried blood on his face, I realised who it was, Tyrant. " I'm sorry to hear that..."
Rex cut me off, "Don't act like you didn't do it, I saw you, heartlessly kill him," his eyes began to well up with tears as he saw the scene play out before his eyes again, " Please, please don't lie to me, I saw you, no matter how much I want to believe you didn't do it, I saw you, with my own two eyes."
I was about to protest when the rest of the agency came in, I could see the relief in their faces when they saw Rex unharmed, but it all got drained away when they saw the stationery body of Tyrant. Their eyes followed Rex's murderous gaze, soon, they we all staring at me.--------------------------------------------------
I sat in a room, my hands were sweaty, not from heat, but from the nervousness. In front of me were Lydia and Rex, hatred still bubbling inside him. Lydia began the investigation' " Tell us what happened,"
" Tyrant ran in and untied my ropes, but as he was doing so, someone," he paused and glanced at me, "stabbed him twice on the back, and that someone..." I watched as he clutched his head in pain of the memories.
"It's okay, we're here for you," assured Lydia in a gentle soothing voice.
Rex continued in a quivering voice," Had light brown hair with streaks of black under a hood, her hair was just like Katherine's."
Lydia took a moment to scribble it down, then she turned to me,"So Katherine, did you kill Tyrant, tell me the truth because if you lie, the lie detector will pick it up."
"No," I replied in a firm voice.
"Okay, she's not lying on that," she said to Rex as she glanced at the screen of the detector.
Rex widened his eyes in disbelief, "No one believes me, your favouring her, I swear I saw her do it!"
"Calm down, okay Katherine, I'll try another question," sighed Lydia, "Did you witness the brutal murder?"
"No," I repeated again.
" I'm sorry Rex, but looks like she's not the killer, but we will uncover the truth,"said Lydia, "And we'll keep an eye on Katherine in case the lie detector is broken."
I was glad that I was found clean, but I was worried about Rex, he had been so sure that I was the killer, but only to found out it was not the truth. Especially the fact that he might have seen an illusion...
