I finished getting ready and went downstairs,"Mother, is Alex here?"
"No she came downstairs and ran outside"
"Did you see what was wrong?"
"Nope,thats your problem not mine."
I ran outside and Alex was sitting on the porch swing. I sat down next to her in silence. 'is she going to say something or do I' I said to myself.
"Hey." I said awkwardly. That earned a laugh from her.
"hey Brian." she said "Yea so I guess we should leave"
"Don't you think we should talk about all this..."
"No, I don't think so. we've got a long ride ahead to talk."
I got up and grabbed my bag and started to load up my jeep. Alex brought over her bag and threw it in."Lets go!" she said.

We rode in silence most I the way there. Then she broke the silence "So...What did you want to talk about earlier?"
"Mostly about you and me umm...you know what I mean"
"Say it"
"Kissing" sounding like a 5 year old saying it.
"Yea and then you said it didn't mean anything to you. pull into the mcdonalds I'm hungry."
I pulled in and we got out, "No I said it probably didn't mean anything no that it didn't mean anything to me"
"Well did it mean anything to you"
I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the side right next to the door "Yes it ment something to me, do you realize that I've liked you since like the first time I met you in the 6th grade?"
"no, I didn't."Alex said "I've seen you go through relationships after relationships and break ups after breakups with no hint of feelings toward me."
She started toward the door and went inside leaving me with that thought.
