*Nevaeh's POV*
"Listen, I don't care how much I will have to catch up on class! I'm one of you top students, I skipped 2 ranks, and I urgently need to get home!" I practically yelled
"Nevaeh. I know how much you need to get home, but there is a big test today to see how much you know or how much your skills have improved. Tomorrow is Friday, we are just reviewing things tomorrow anyway. That's the soonest I can let you go."
"Why can't I just skip the test Mrs. K what harm will that do?"
"If you skip this test I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop you into the 2nd rank."
"I can do a make up test!"
"No you can't, the kinds of tests we do here at this school are interactive combat skill testing with the rest of your rank. There are no makeup tests." She snapped
"Fine" I snapped back " I'll do the test. But I'm leaving first thing in the morning" I stormed out

"Today your test will be taken outside. Same rules apply as always. You will be given a gun, a bow and a sword. All with stunning properties. This test will determine your partner for the next few years of your life. Number 1 with number 2 number 3 with 4, so on so fourth. This ensures that you and your partner are on the same level of skill. Your weapons are being handed to you as I speak. I wish you the best of luck" someone handed me the 3 weapons.
The countdown started.
I pushed my way to the front of the crowd.
3.....
2.....
1.....The doors started rising and I immediately ducked under and sprinted as fast as I could to find a good ambush spot.
I looked up and saw a small platform at the top of a tree.
I climbed it with incredible speed.
Once I reached the top I got a good few of the arena.
Although it was night time, my vision was crystal clear.
I saw that there was only one other platform.
It was directly across from me. I saw a girl with her bow shooting down passing enemies.
I knew instantly that we would be partners.
There was a rope latter from my platform to the ground for easy climbing access.
I took out the sword and cut it, no one will be following me up.
I looked to the other side and saw that someone was climbing the rope latter on her side of the arena.
She didn't notice. I took out the bow, that weapon had the most precision.
I shot the climber and they fell to the ground.
Apparently she thought I was among at her and she fired an arrow at me. It missed but the message was clear.
This is a warning shot, fire at me again and I'll finish the job.
I took out my gun and started shooting people down below. A few tried launching arrows but I had a huge advantage with my upper ground.
Soon there were only four left.
Me and the other tree lady, and two sword fighting on the ground.
I looked at her and we had a silent agreement.
We aimed and fired.
We each hit one of the fighters.
I had a mini celebration and stepped forward thinking the platform was a little bit bigger.
I went tumbling off and luckily grabbed a hold of the platform with both hands, but I was still hanging about 25 feet above the ground. I heard her draw an arrow and thought she was going to shoot me.
If she shot me and stunned me I'd of let go fallen and died.
But she was smarter than that.
She shot just under my feet so I would have something to step on.
If I stepped on it too long it would snap and I'd fall. I saw a branch a little to the left of me, if I stepped on the arrow for a short amount of time, then jumped maybe just maybe, I would make it.
Right as I was about to let go, she launched what I thought was another helping arrow. But it was her sword!
The sword was a lot stronger than the arrow and would hold me much better.
Without a second thought, I let go landed on the sword for half a second, jumped off grabbed the small branch immediately letting go straight into a backflip landing in a bush.
I looked up to see her jump off her platform onto a nearby tree and jumping from branch to branch until the last one where she did a back tuck landing gracefully on the ground.
I jogged over and high fives her.
"Good job not dying" she smirked
"I liked your little flip at the end there, it added a nice little ending touch that it definitely needed" I laughed
She smiled and I saw her sneaking her hand behind her back to grab an arrow.
I was quicker.
I reached back at lightning speed grabbed an arrow, and stuck it right in her stomach.
"Sorry" I said catching her as she fell ,"One of us had to win, and I know you were thinking it"
She had long brown hair and is a little taller than I am.
