My alarm that was on my nightstand went off. I lazily moved over and shut it off while groaning. I'm not much of a morning person.
I somehow managed to drag myself out of bed within five minutes and got ready. I was excited for training but in a way, I was dreading it. I took a quick shower and slipped on my uniform. After that, I headed out towards the mess hall.
When I entered, all eyes were on me. It was really awkward sine I didn't know a single soul in the room and I didn't know where to sit. Thankfully, I saw Petra wave to me to come over so I did.
"Oh my gosh thank you SOOO much!! If you didn't see me sooner, things would have gotten AWKWARD fast!" I laughed as she giggled in response. "You're welcome (y/n)! I realized that the commander and I are the only ones you actually know here so." She gestured for me to sit down next to her.
Around me, there were a few more people, mainly guys, who were sitting down. "Oh I forgot to introduce you to the crew!" Petra exclaimed. "This is Eld, Gunther, Olou, Mike, and the other two should be coming out soon. That's section commander Hange and corporal Levi." She introduced. I smiled at them and introduced myself as well.
"A pleasure." They all said as we continued our breakfast. We were all chatting and eating peacefully until the mess hall doors all of a sudden burst open. "Waaaaaa so THIS is the new cadet huh?" I heard a rather loud voice scream. I looked over and saw a tall girl with glasses and a ponytail run my way.
"Oh so you must be (y/n)! I'm section commander Hange but just call me by my actual name. All that formal crap gets kinda annoying after a while!" She laughed as I smiled at her. Behind her, I saw a rather short man who to me, was actually 5 inches taller than me.
"You are SOOOOO cute!" Hange screamed as she squeezed me. "Uh Hange, can't- breathe-" I managed to stutter. "Oh sorry!" She instantly let go.
"Tch don't kill her." I heard the short man say. I assumed that was corporal Levi that Petra was talking about."Hello corporal!" I greeted as he nodded to me in response. I went back to eating as the other two sat down as well. "So (y/n), how do you like it here so far?" Hange asked me."It's great! I love everyone here so far because they're all really nice and welcoming!" I told her. "That's great!" She responded smiling. We continued eating our food until we had to clean up and get ready for training.
I cleaned up my dishes and headed outside to where the rest of the cadets were. "Alright listen up! We are going to have a last man standing sparring game so find a partner and pair up. The last man standing gets excused from cleaning duty for a week!" Someone yelled. I looked over to see who it was and sure enough, Hange was the culprit standing there smiling like crazy.
I looked around to see if anyone left was available. Sure enough, I ran into a cadet who was a whole head and a neck taller than me and had red hair. We stood a good yard away and positioned ourselves into our fighting stances. I, for one, just stood there. I was waiting to see how it would play out when he attacked me first.
Cadets pov
Well she's going to get beat up pretty easily. She's so small too! I thought to myself as I positioned myself into my fighting stance. On the other hand, the girl was just standing there. I wonder if she even knows how to fight? Well, she did get let into the Survey Corps early.
Your pov
Like I had predicted, the male cadet attacked first. He aimed for my side which I then easily flipped him over. I turned around and kneed him in the chest while pinning him down. "Cadet (l/n) wins!" Hange shouted as I went onto my next opponent.
My next opponent was just as tall as the first except she looked like she didn't give a shiz. I stood there again waiting for her to attack. She did but I noticed in her eyes that she was terrified. She aimed a punch towards my face which I easily dodged and round kicked her in the back. She fell to the ground groaning and I pinned her down.
She glared at me and tried to kick me from behind but I kneed her in stomach. Her face scrunched up as she bared her teeth, trying to endure the pain. "I think (l/n) wins again!" Hange exclaimed as I continued into my next challenge.
About two hours went by until I noticed that all of the other cadets were standing by the sidelines watching me. I then realized that I was the last man standing. Well, almost.
