I put on one last coat of mascara before grabbing my book bag and heading down the stairs . It was my first day of school as a senior at p.b Duffy school . For moments like these.. You wish you had a mother . But if your me you have your grandma and she's your whole world .
My grandma is 88 and is kind of getting new problems everyday just like others getting older in age. Some days it's her back , or her knee , or her pills aren't working . But I'm there for her whenever she calls because she took me in ever since I was little . My mom wasn't really up to standards to be a mom at the time I was born so she gave me to my grandma and lord knows wherever she's at now."Alright grandma I'm out ! Ill be back after school." I said walking to the door
"Now where are you going without giving me my sugar young la-" her sentence was stopped by her seriously bad cough.
Before I walked out I went to the kitchen and got some tea and sat it next to her before I kissed her on her cheek and walked out for good.
For being an African American family my grandma was pretty loaded. I didn't have to work to help pay bills because my grandma was covered .she used to work for the city and I guess saved her money up for moments like this.
