Music goes smoothly with no Joe, and no distractions. Autumn shows up ten minutes late with a sort of gleam in her eyes, she sits next to me and Samara after Mrs Gress, the music teacher, gives her a real talking to.

I lean close to her slowly, she doesn't notice me. "Hey. What took you so long?"

The gleam in her eyes that I thought was joy before, now looks more like sadness, I'm not sure which one it is. "Don't worry. Just got lost."

It isn't like Autumn to get lost, and I know she wouldn't, so my curiosity only escalates, and taking in the look on Samara's face, she feels the same.

I don't press it, because she can be quite snappy when she wants to be. So I stay quiet. So does Samara.

Mrs Gress hands out instruments, saying that we will be trying out our musical skills, what ever that is.

I get a flute, it's silver and shiny, so I decide to play a little joke on Samara and Autumn.
The light from outside the window bounces off the flutes metallic coatings onto the wall.
I try and balance the flute so that the light goes onto Samara's nose. Autumn sees me doing so and there is a small twitch in her lip.

We can both see that Samara can see that something is on her nose yet she is trying to concentrate on the music sheet in front of her. I bite back a grin as her knuckles turn white as she grips her tuba.

I keep flashing the reflection at her and I position it in the space between her eyes. She blinks for a second, I flash it again, she squints and suddenly jumps back. I jump to the side only to bump into Autumn, our chairs fall over and and somehow my arm is entangled with Autumns cello strings and my head in Samaras tuba.

Great, just great.

I'm walking with my friends to Science, and Autumn seems much better. She's smiling, at least trying to be optimistic , but she doesn't seem fully herself. I don't have much time to wonder about it though- it's science.

The lesson drags on, long and boring. Science is normally quick, but it's almost the end of the day. It will, probably, go slowly.

Autumn seems to deflate throughout the whole lesson, bit by bit. At the end, she doesn't even talk to us on the way to our lockers.

I'm getting my books out my bag. Annabell, Daniella, James and Joe are already there. Annabell is twirling her hair around one finger, her locker not even open yet.
I'm concentrating on getting all my books out before talking, and as I do I hear a quiet, "Hi."

I turn, and see a smiling girl, with curly blonde hair falling around her shoulders. She has bright, crystal blue eyes, and long eyelashes. She has a few bracelets winding up her right arm, and glasses over those bright eyes.

She's smiling at Autumn, who smiles back. Her left hand is behind her back, holding a bracelet, and it's shaking. I find that odd- it isn't like her to be nervous around friends, well I'm assuming this is a new friend.

They're talking, smiling, Autumn seemingly slightly awkward, but the new girl, open and happy. She's quite bubbly.

Autumn then brings out her left hand, holding the navy blue bracelet. "Here, you dropped this yesterday at my house, Jay."

I'm slightly surprised. This girl was at Autumn's house yesterday, and we weren't told, and she never said anything.

The girl smiles, and I finally realize none of us have said anything to her. I feel rude.
