The first 2 weeks of Jamie's stay passed in a flash. Too quickly for someone who doesn't want him to go back to the other side of the world.

But in the weeks that he has stayed, my parents have hassled me to the earth's end as to when they can meet him. And apparently, tonight is that night.

My aunty's party. Full of my family and friends.

Great.

That's just where I wanted them to meet him. At a party full our strange family; and our strange friends.

"Ready?" He smiles, walking out of our room, adjusting his shirt, pulling it down around the waist band of his jeans, "I'm pumped,"

"I'm shit scared," I chuckle, taking his outstretched hand, "We're a strange bunch,"

"I'm sure you're all no stranger than my family," He smiles, playing with the ring on my pointer finger, "Who gave you this?"

"My parents for my 18th birthday," I smile, looking at the silver band dotted with rubies.

"It suits you," He looks up and grins at me, "you ready to go?"

"Yep!"

"Jamie!" Mum cackles, seeing us walk around the corner and coming straight towards us with her arms outstretched, "How nice to meet you!" She envelopes him into a massive hug, his hand being tug away from mine.

"And of course, my beautiful girl," She smiles, hugging me and kissing me on the cheek, "how are you Jess?"

"I'm great thanks mum,"

"I would be too with a man like Jamie attached to my arm-"

"Mum! I've managed to keep him around for the last two weeks, I don't want you to scare him off,"

"She won't scare me off," He chuckles, tightening his grip around my body, "But that's flattering Mrs. Thompson; I think."

"Don't be silly! Call me Audrey. Come and meet the family,"

"Oh sweet j-" I mutter

"Hey, it'll be fine. You need to stop stressing. I'm quite a strange person myself I have been told," He chuckles,

I smile at his comment and add, "I know you are,"

"Ooooh, that's just ru-" He chuckles in my ear, our playful banter putting a smile on my mum's face,

"So Jamie, this is Jessica's younger brother, Jake," Mum beams, pulling Jake over by his arm, "Jake, this is Jessica's new boyfriend,"

She raises an eyebrow at me and Jake and I can't help but chuckle under our breath. Trust my mum to make any situation as awkward as she possibly can.

Murmured greetings and expressions of hello are heard slightly from the two boys as they both extend their hands and clasp each others in their own - a handshake in other words.

"And this is Jessie's dad, David,"

"Nice to meet you,"

How is my perfectly polite boyfriend supposed to get to know my rough and tough, old dad?

"So you're British?"

Of course. The first thing my dad says to him. So you're British? No dad. He's from Germany. I think it's quite clear that he is British.

My sarcasm really eats away at my brain sometimes.

"Dad, I told you that," I chuckle, feeling an unnecessary heat rise to my cheeks.

"Nothing wrong with English people," He says calmly, patting Jamie on the back, "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Oh fu-" I start.

Jamie nudges me in the ribs, cutting me off, "Shhh. Go and socialize. I'll come and find you," He smiles, following my dad through the hallway to the kitchen.
