Bleep bleep bleep

I groaned and turned over in my bed, not wanting to get up yet.

Bleep bleep bleep

I sighed in defeat and reached over to turn off my alarm clock. I sat up in my bed and stretched out my tired limbs. Today's the day. Today is the day I leave home. My first day of university. My first day of my life as an independent adult. Technically I became an adult when I turned eighteen a few months ago, but whilst living with my parents I still get treated like a kid. I looked over to my boxes of stuff in the corner of my bedroom and suddenly felt sad. I had been counting down the days till I get to leave here but now I don't want to. The thought of living in almost my own house with almost complete privacy and almost silence. The reason I say almost is because I have two roommates. I haven't met them yet but I read it in a letter that I was sent by the university. It was all the way in Derby and I live in London so I have no choice but to stay in the campus.

My mum burst in my room, "get up Tiana. We have a long drive to the university and I don't want you to get there late because I want to help you unpack some stuff and look around the campus and meet your roommates. And then I have to drive back and go shopping. Tiana, I'm stressed out already. You have half an hour, I'll put your stuff in the car and then I'll wait there. Please hurry up," she rushed out whilst running a hand through her hair a few times. I watched as sh grabbed a few of my boxes and left my room.

I felt bad for my mum, she was always stressed out. I put on my silky slippers and dressing gown that I got as a gift set and ran down the stairs to my kitchen to make breakfast. I looked at the cereal we had in our cupboards and sighed when I only saw coco pops or rice crispies. I hate them both so I decided I would skip breakfast and get something to eat when we got to the university.

My outfit was already laid out on my spinny chair when I went back upstairs to get dressed. It was a simple and comfy outfit, perfect for the long journey. I walked into my bathroom and brushed my teeth whilst watching myself in the mirror. I really, really love watching myself. I washed and dried my face before walking back to my room to get changed. I watch myself get changed in my mirror because I like to admire myself, I teach myself to love me. By watching myself in the mirror everyday I've learned to accept and love my flaws, they're what make me me. I brushed my curly hair and tied it into a bun before applying minimum makeup.

I ran out to the car with my shoes in my hand and jumped into the passenger side. My mum motioned to my seat belt and I buckled up for safety. As I was putting my shoes on I got a notification on my phone. I sat up properly and looked at my phone, it was a message from my dad. Sorry I couldn't be there today, good luck in college. Tell me when you want me to visit or you could come down to my place. Let me know!

My dad lives in Milton Keynes so I don't see him often. My parents divorced when I was younger and I didn't understand when I was that small so I've never known any different. I typed back my message it's alright, I'll be back for Christmas so we could meet up then:) I locked my phone and put it back on my lap.

My little brother started talking as soon as we started driving and I knew he wasn't going to stop u till we got there, "so, when you're in uni can I have your bedroom? It's bigger than mine and I need a bigger room."

I didn't even bother to look at him, "no, you don't touch anything of mine whilst I'm gone because when I come back to visit I want it exactly as it was. Do you understand Jordan?" I turned and gave him a stern look.

He rolled his eyes, "alright, whatever. Can I at least your toothbrush?"

My mouth dropped in disgust and I reached into the back of the car to slap his leg, "no! What is wrong with you?!" I shouted in horror. Ugh, even the thought if his mouth on my toothbrush made me want to be sick.
