"You forgot your sleeping bag, silly man!" She exclaims as she hands him the bag in her hands. Her cheeks are rosy and she's breathing fast as she tries to catch her breath. Nash tilts his head as he studies her, she is a beautiful woman and he can see why Cameron is with her but deep inside he feels smug that he's able to take Cameron's attention away from her and on to him.
"Thank you, Rach. I would have been sleeping on the cold tent floor if you hadn't brought it." Cameron says as he takes the bag from her.
She gives him a happy smile and leans in, Cameron doesn't avoid her lips even though Nash is right in front of them because Rachel would know something was up. They always kiss goodbye.
"I'm going to miss you," she pouts after giving Cameron a short kiss. "Ugh, I wish I could go but I can't abandon my cousin on her big day, my family would never forgive me."
"I understand... I'll miss you too sweetheart. And thanks again for bringing my sleeping bag, we're heading out now but I'll call you when we arrive, okay?" Cameron tells her and she nods before giving him one last kiss.
After she leaves Cameron flashes an apologetic look at Nash who shrugs at him. It did bother him to see Cameron kiss someone else but he can't be mad at him because that's his girlfriend and he's the intruder.
But he's hoping that it won't stay that way for long. Cameron throws his sleeping bag next to Nash's duffel bag and closes the door.
They get into the car and when they're settled, Cameron drives off. There's a caravan of cars following him and Nash is secretly glad that no one asked to ride with them. He wants all of the private time with Cameron that he can get.
"So youth pastor. hm?" Nash asks and he tries to get a conversation started and learn more about the man that's completely beguiled him.
"Yeah... only have about another year to go but I was lucky enough to be hired by the church before even graduating," Cameron explains as he glances at Nash who gives him a small smile.
"I guess you want to keep working at this church after you graduate?" Nash worries that Cameron's chosen profession will make it so that they can never be an official couple. He knows he's getting ahead of himself, they barely know each other and are just starting out but Cameron has stolen his interest like no one else ever has and not for lack of people trying.
"I do... I have a good rapport with the pastor and the youth, I feel comfortable there and I feel like I can make a difference," Cameron replies and Nash bites his lip, making Cameron take his eyes off the road and look at Nash for a few moments before paying attention back to the road. "What?"
"I just... I don't know," Nash hedges, he doesn't want to go too deep too fast, he knows he can be intense and he doesn't want to scare Cameron away with the intensity of his feelings.
"Nash... it's okay, you can be open with me." Cameron reassures him and the conviction with which he speaks makes Nash relax. He can see how Cameron would have excellent interpersonal relationships with anyone he comes across because with just a few words, he eases his fears.
"I know it's early on and I probably shouldn't even bring this up right now but... what does that mean for us? I mean I know you have Rachel but I feel like we have something and we can make that something into something amazing. I've honestly never felt so... connected and comfortable with someone so soon after meeting them. You can ask anyone that knows me, I usually keep people at arms length but with you... it's completely different. It's something foreign to me but scary at the same time because there's so many variables, there are so many paths that we can take and not all of them end in happiness," Nash blurts out and he immediately regrets opening his mouth, he looks down at his hands and silently waits for the awkward moment to begin. He fully expects Cameron to recoil and shut down because he divulged a lot more than he had intended.
