Syd Barrett's Mystical Adventures

     Syd was creeping through a magical place. He had never seen anything like it before. It involved rainbow flavored clouds which interested him very much. He wished he could live on top of a cloud. However, someone had told him that if you try to walk on a cloud, you would fall through and die or get paralyzed from the neck down. This disappointed Syd. Clouds always seemed like a great place to be.

"You would be away from everything, but you wouldn't get lonely because you could see everything going on in the world. There are the flying beasts to sort out, but apart from that it's wonderful," Syd appeared to tell himself. No one understands what the hell Syd talks about, or to whom he is talking. Of course, it is all clear to Syd.

In this magical world, Syd was being followed. Syd didn't belong there. He knew he didn't, but he kept exploring. He began to notice that the clouds in this direction were all on fire. If he didn't escape soon, everything would be engulfed by these horrible flames. Syd started running away. He abruptly stopped and looked at the rainbow flavors escaping the clouds. "They will fill the air and smother everything. Then the fire will be put out. Rainbows are very useful," Syd observed. He still needed to leave. Being suffocated by rainbows would be a terrible way to die.

Syd skipped away from the rainbows and flames and found a happy, normal cloud. "This is my new home," said Syd. He gazed at the cloud and then regretted his descision. "Evil flying creatures will be here soon. I see the cloud is frightened," he thought. He was ready to leave. He was tired of these clouds.

A demon approached him. "You are not supposed to be in this land," it told Syd.

"I know. I'm leaving now," he replied, and continued on his way home.

Syd felt strange. He turned around and saw the demon ripping out his spine. It was smiling. Syd was very angry and realized that it had known all about his exploration in the magical world. "You have been following me through this place so you can have my spine," he told that evil demon. He grabbed his spine out of the demon's claws and ran. He had to get away from those demons. They had taken his spine too many times.
