*knock knock*Tyler was visiting his best friend Josh's house because this past week Josh has been feeling really depressed, and Tyler being the good friend he is, brought him Taco Bell and some good movies for them to watch. Josh had been Tyler's best friend since they were 5 years old and they have been inseparable ever since.
"Oh Tyler, it's lovely to see you, as always. Please come in, can I get you anything, something to drink..." Josh's mom opened the door, she was like a second mother to Tyler and their house was like a second home to him.
"No thank you Laura, is Josh home?" Tyler asked with hopeful eyes.
"I'm not sure I just got home from running some errands but you're welcome to go look in his room."
"Thank you." Tyler gave her a smile and ran up the stairs into the very familiar room. Tyler knocked on Josh's door lightly.
"Hey Josh, you home?" Tyler heard no response so he opened the door and walked in.
"Josh?" Tyler searched throughout the entire room but found nothing, he walked over to Josh's bed and sat down, remembering all the good times they've had in this spot. Tyler saw something in the corner of his eye, and after further examination, he realized it was a note, two notes.
"To Tyler." Tyler read out loud. He started to open the letter, when he heard a voice call his name.
"Josh!" Tyler looked up, only to see Laura in the doorway.
"No just me, I actually forgot to grab something from the store so I'm gonna just go and get it. You can stay as long as you'd like, and is Josh not here?" Laura asked.
"Oh no, he isn't but I won't be much longer." Tyler said sweetly.
"Okay I won't be long, I'll be back soon." She said with a motherly smile and closed the door. Tyler turned his attention back to the note, it read:
Dear Tyler,
As you know I haven't been feeling myself lately, I don't know if it has to do with my anxiety or if I'm just a dumb kid who can't do anything right, but I feel like I don't belong here. Not just in our town or school, I feel I don't belong in this world. We've known each other basically our entire lives and I just want you to know that through the many years I've known you, you have been the greatest friend I could have asked for. You are always there for me when I need you the most and you never judge me. I love you Tyler Robert Joseph and not just in a brotherly, best friend kind of way, a love-love way as in I want to kiss you and hug you everyday. But you have a girl friend and could never love me the same way. So I guess this is goodbye, at least I'll be in a place where we have had the best times.
Love, JoshTyler didn't even realize he was crying until he saw some tears fall onto the letter. Tyler panicked and started pacing the room, thinking of all the possible places Josh could be and wondering if he was too late.
"Umm maybe he could be at the diner, no probably not. The park downtown? No." Then it hit Tyler like a ton of bricks. MoonView Drive. How could Tyler have been so stupid, the place they first met, where their parents brought them when they were younger. The two boys spent many nights up there sitting on the edge of the mountain-like structure with their legs dangling off the sid-.
"Oh no! He's gonna- he's- he." Tyler sprinted out of Josh's room and out of the Dun house hold. He got in his car and drove all the way to MoonView Drive in hopes his friend was okay, or even alive. Tyler hopped out of his car as fast as he could and started searching for the pink headed boy.
"Josh!" Tyler screamed to the top of his lungs, tears rushing down his face.
"Josh where the fuck are you?!?" Tyler was frantically searching the top of the cliff until he saw the boy he desperately needed to see.
"Josh oh my god, you gave me a heart attack-" Josh interrupted Tyler immediately.
"Tyler, don't come any closer, you're gonna make this harder then it needs to be." Josh said with tears streaming down his cheeks. It broke Tyler's heart.
"Josh please, just get away from the edge and we can talk about this." Tyler argued.
"What's the point in talking if you don't love me back, it's better off this way, you shouldn't have come here." Josh was now backing up closer and closer to the edge and Tyler was furiously shaking.
"If you do this I will never forgive you, I love you Josh! Isn't that enough?!" By now Tyler was bawling his eyes out, trying to get Josh away from the edge.
"Tyler if you come any closer I'm gonna jump right now." Josh threatened.
"JOSH NO, PLEASE I NEED YOU, PLEASE!" Tyler screamed.
"It's no use, no one will even notice I'm gone." Josh turned around and faced away from Tyler. Tyler grabbed out his phone and started to call 911. He looked up.
"JOSH NO!" Tyler screamed as he watched his best friend fall backwards off the cliff. Tyler ran up to the edge of the cliff and got on his hands and knees in attempt to save his best friend. It was too late. He saw Josh's dead corpse lying on the ground beneath him. Blood was pooling around his head and torso.
"Hello, 911 how can I assist you?" A lady on the phone asked.
"MY FRIEND, HE JUST HE- HE-" Tyler was hyperventilating and could barely form a proper sentence.
"Sir, I'm going to need you to calm down, the paramedics are on their way."1 Year Later
Tyler sat on the ground, in front of his best friend. He visited him everyday since the funeral.
"Hey Josh, I just wanted to stop by and say happy 18th birthday. I miss you lots, and I love you, I wish you were here with me right so we could cuddle or something." Tyler started tearing up.
"Okay I'll be back tomorrow, I love you, bye." Tyler stood up from the grave and made his way back home. What crushed Tyler even more was that he never got to tell Josh he liked him back...The End
