Bow down. Kiss the ring.
The crowd surrounded him with glowing eyes, the sound of cheers echoing throughout. It sounded slightly blocked out, but it was enough for the king. A smirk was placed upon his face, watching as they dropped to their knees. He enjoyed the looks of joy on every familiar and unfamiliar face, the ringing happiness in his ears. All of that disappeared as his eyes adjusted to the blurry light inside his room. Just a dream. He was still in this miserable world. "Rise and shine, we gotta get to my place!" Yelled the excited, familiar voice. "Okay, okay Ryan! Jeez, who let you in? I have to sleep too!" Brendon laughed tiredly, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
It was starting to turn autumn, which means more costume time with Ryan and coffee everyday. Like the movies, it was a very pretty thing. Bren liked to live his life on the down low, liked to live it like a dream. If he was gonna be an adult, he might as well live a pleasing life. All he needed was love, agony, and heartbreak.
"Okay so, I picked your clothes out already so don't bother. I'll do your makeup." "Can't I just wear a simple sweatshirt, jeans, and a shirt?" "If you want to be a professional, it's best to look professional!" "Dude, we're not even meeting some business guys or anything." He chuckled as he heard the other boy snort in amusement.
"So what? People are gonna THINK we're professionals."
"Or think we're weird."
"Whatever!" Ryan argued back, crossing his arms and leaning back. He had smudged eyeliner on to match with a dark theme he was currently into. He called the style,'Nothing Rhymes With Circus season'. It was a nice name.
Brendon found it cute and amusing how excited his best friend was over costume designing or just working in general. He drew so many designs with Brendon and their friends Jon and Spencer. The four would have the best matching costumes for Halloween, Ryan doing the makeup every time.
The best part about doing this job was definitely the fun they had while planning these.
"Brendon! Clothes." Ryan called. "Right," the brunette sighed.
The clothes he ended up donning were way too much for Brendon, and he swore he was gonna be sweating tears by the end of the day. Though it was a lot, he still adored the outfit Ryan had chose. The ruffly button up shirt that popped out of his black, rose printed jacket matched with a plain pair of black slacks were actually pretty nice. Well, in his opinion. He knew he was still gonna get weird looks for dressing up too much.
He sat on his bed patiently as Ryan drew silver strokes of makeup under his eye, hands resting on his lap. Lost in his own thoughts of words, memories, and what could happen later,he simply listened to the brunette as he rambled on, until he finally finished Brendon's makeup.
About an hour or so, they were already at Ryan's place. Their usual workplace was in the basement, because of the extra room they had there. Ryan didn't really care where they worked, as long as they had enough space to do what they want.
Brendon was currently the model for the costumes, or the uh, mannequin. The shirt he wore carried ruffles on the purposely loose sleeves and a nice top that carried layered ruffles around the collar and down to where a fitted suit jacket would stop. "I don't like it." Ryan had stated.
"I do."
"I think to match with the jacket, I'll need to make the sleeves not loose. Oh! I'll add gloves too, that'd be cool!" Brendon raised an eyebrow at the words, picturing the image in his head. On second thought, it would go nice with the blue vest and dark jacket he had to wear.
"Is this going in the Nothing Rhymes With Circus collection?" The younger one asked, earning a beaming smile from the other. "Yeah! I thought it'd fit. Dark, old fashion, and circus like." He pointed out with an energetic tone. Brendon could only laugh and stand there as he awaited for their work to be finished. After this, they had to work on commissions. Ryan was way too excited about doing this to work on those first.
Surprisingly, they finished work pretty early, which is what Ryan hated. Though, it sucked since the job was very enjoyable and actually put worth into their days (and money), it was really exhausting. Brendon was kinda worn out and didn't have much energy to finish up anything more. He just needed to get his usual coffee and snack at some local cafe, and he'd be all set for the day. His usual, boring day. "Bye Ryan!" Brendon called to his friend, waving a hand as he walked off to exit. His friends only response was a loud groan and then a loud,"Bye Brendon!"
And that's all for his afternoon.
After leaving, he went to visit the usual cafe down the street. Chills around his neck and ears made him wish he was more dressed for the weather. He thought it'd be warmer, but according to mother nature, he should've worn a scarf. Brendon quickly entered, ignoring the regular 'Ding' of the bell above the door alerting his entrance. "Welcome sir Urie!" Cooed one of the workers. Brendon noticed in the corner of his eye a few kids turning their heads to quickly look over before directing their attention back to their guardians. "What brings thy here?" The worker asked. "Finished work early, Dal," he sighed, a small smile on his face as he walked over to the counter. Dallon Weekes was one of the employees that he knew pretty well. Having his friend Spencer work here, he got to meet a lot of the employees who were fairly nice and actually hung out with Spence.
"I'm surprised you didn't bring Ryan with you!" The tall one laughed. He always thought the two were dating, since they were incredibly close. Brendon just rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "C'mon dude, I only come with Ryan occasionally. I'm here for my usual coffee and a walk, y'know? Ryan's at home, taking a break from all this costume making business." He was really glad the place wasn't as busy, because he'd feel horrible for holding up a line. "Before you tease me any longer-" "Oh dude, nice outfit!" Another friend, Kenneth, announced, looking over the outfit he had donned. "Thanks, uh Ryan chose it." The brunette mumbled awkwardly. The boys laughed a bit, leaving the youngest one with a sigh and a big smile on his face. "I just came here for coffee dudes, why do I have to put up with you guys?" "Because Spencer knew you'd have to deal with us, which is why he introduced us!"
Brendon just sighed as if he were defeated, shoving his hands into his pockets and rolling his eyes.
"The usual?" Kenneth asked, deciding to end all the jokes before Dallon kept the boy here longer than he wanted. "Yup. Oh, uh, and.. this too," Brendon answered, grabbing a chocolate chip cookie from the side and placing it onto the counter before reaching for his wallet. "Treating myself for a good job today, I guess." "Cool. That'd be $3.94."
After getting what he needed, he felt satisfied to get some fresh air before he ended up smelling like sweets and coffee from there. The coffee was warm in his hands and he swore he could see it steaming, or else it was just his breath from the cold air. As the steam rose up, he'd get the smallest satisfaction and entertainment by simply blowing it away, though it'd quickly rise up and take back it's place. Like a child, he'd blow it away again and again. He swore, if he kept doing that he would've gotten run over faster than he could say Weighted.
Thankfully, he stopped himself in time to keep himself safe from any cars willing to injure him. 'Enough with being dramatic and 'poetic',' he thought to himself, arriving at the park, seeing how it was mostly deserted except for a boy who sat there, drawing. Brendon tried not to stare, but couldn't help it. He noticed the way his dark eyes glistened, the bright red against his possibly cold, pale skin. It looked like he had been crying.
Should he go up and talk to him? Ask at least?
'No,' he thought.
'This is none of my business'.
