Bullies and Their Superiority Complex

Hey guys! So lately around my town there's been this anti-bully movement in the schools which is great, but as someone who's been bullied they don't really help that much. So this article is to try to help those of you who have been bullied get the confidence to stand up for yourself. If they pick on you most people will just say shrug it off or to ignore it but as someone who's been picked on I know that it's really hard to do that. So I've thought of some few tricks that have helped me. First, surround yourself with people who care about you, that includes your family not just your friends, because family is forever and they will always be there for you no-madder what. They will build you up and help you stand on your own, but remember once you can stand on your own don't push them away because even though you're standing now, one day life will knock you down again but they will always be right there to pick you up.

Second is to be yourself and express yourself in a way that makes you feel good about you! For me my outlet was my hair, thankfully for me I had parents that let me change my hair color. Whenever I was going through a tough time or just needed a confidence boost my hair color would change. It would go from red, to blue, to purple, and each of those colors had a special meaning to me. (If you would like to know the story behind any of the colors leave a comment below with the color you'd like the story behind). Now whether it's changing your hair color, clothes, doing your nails, or singing a crazy song every hour to make you happy, something to express your emotions always helps when dealing with people who are trying to hurt you.

Lastly when life gets you down and you need a little pick me up, a girls night or a guys night out always helps. Whether it's going to get mani-pedis with the girls and having a gossip girl night with popcorn and ice-cream or going to the skate-park with guys and ending the night with a street fighter 4 marathon it'll definitely cheer you up. Even if you just get a huge group together and go see the newest movie out (I highly suggest finding dory, I mean who can turn down a cuddle party of cute sea otters on a giant screen). Having friends that will take you out and cheer you up is a huge part of not letting a bully bother you. One day all this will pay off and you'll be able to stand up to that bully and say "you don't bother me anymore" and you'll mean it because you'll have learned to love yourself more and realize that bully only picks on you to make themselves feel better.

That said with all this helping you create a support system and build up your confidence, never forget that a parent or teacher can always help too. If you feel bad and you can't shake the bully off TELL SOMEONE I repeat TELL SOMEONE!!!! A bully can't hurt you if you go to a teacher and let them know what is going on. A teacher can keep that person away from you and prevent even more bullying from happening. Even a parent can help, if they know who this kid is then they can keep them away from you at the house. If they show up then your parents can make sure that they are not allowed near you. Also if it is a family member that is hurting you, you can tell you parents so that if it's an older sibling or cousin that they can be dealt with at home and taught that bullying is wrong.

I hope you all take my advice to heart! I pray that none of you ever have to face a bully but just incase I will link the websites and phone numbers to help lines for those of you who are in really bad situations and need a way to reach out!
