Merida groaned. She had been walking for what felt like ages. Her throat stung from the lack of water. She dragged her aching feet. She adjusted her bow and quiver. Her body felt heavy and sore. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going. Suddenly her feet felt wet. She looked down and saw her feet submerged in water. Around her was a river. She threw her bow and quiver on the ground and started drinking the water. She drank as much as she could. She wiped her face with her hands that were cupping water. She ducked her head under. She sat back up. A noise suddenly caught her attention. She looked up to where it was coming from. A dark horse emerged from the forest on the other side of the river. Merida went to grab her bow but it wasn't there. She backed away from the horse. It grunted aggressively.

"A nightmare." She whispered. Suddenly it reared and charged towards her. She ran back into the woods to get away from it. She ducked branches and jumped roots. Her breath started to become heavy. She panted as she ran away from the nightmare. Merida tripped into a small opening in the forest. She scrambled to get up again only to find another nightmare in front of her. She slowly grabbed a fallen branch and stood up. The other nightmare had arrived and stood behind her. She gripped the branch. She could hardly breath. Suddenly the first nightmare reared again, hitting Merida and knocked her to the ground. She fell helplessly. She raised her arms to stop the second nightmare stamping on her. The nightmare reared and landed with a thud. All Merida could see was black. She was unconscious. The two nightmare neighed and ran off into the shadows. Slowly a shadowy figure appeared laughing quietly.

"Should of warned her that fear can kill people." He said. He threw down Merida's bow and quiver. He laughed as he disappeared.
