How It All Started

>Laura's POV<

It started out as just another typical day, really. Who knew that this would be the day my life would change forever...

I woke up early and started to get myself ready to start my second day of work at the Olympic Park. It was such an exhilarating experience, when you consider that thousands of people applied to be Games Makers and my team got selected. We've enjoyed every second of the experience, from the training days to our actual first day on the job. Free meal vouchers and access to most of the Olympic Park, it was great. If there was one thing to moan about, it's the location of where we were actually working; a porto cabin just outside the Aquatics Centre, although we were told we'd be in the centre itself. But that's just a minor gripe...

I got myself washed and dressed and headed out to Stratford International Station to wait for the rest of my team. I guess that's the advantage of already living in London. The rest of my team is a group of guys, so being the only girl, I put up with their drivel about random sports and fantasizing about women while I actually do the job we were assigned to do and making sure it all gets done. As the train slowly pulls into the station, I walk along the platform and wait outside the doors of the carriage that one of the lads said they'd be in.

One by one they all came out; Matthew, Matt, Nathan, Sam, Montell and Graeme. I noticed that we were one member down.

"Its about time you showed up, Lozz" Matthew laughed.

"I've been here for half an hour" I chuckled back. "Where's Karl?" I then asked.

"Lost his contact lens" Graeme replied.

"Again" the other lads chimed in.

"Found it" Karl exclaimed as he dashed off the train before it drove off.

After going through security checks, we finally made it onto the Olympic Park.

"Wow, we're half an hour early, gang. What'cha wanna do?" Karl cheerfully said.

"Go shopping" Matt said.

"Grab some breakfast at McDonalds" Sam added.

"Find Lozzie here a hot Olympic boyfriend" Graeme teased.

"Good luck with that last one, mate" I laughed. Surprisingly enough, I wasn't all that attracted to the sporty athletic types. People are shocked to hear that I am still single. I'm only 25, I'm sure the right guy will come along eventually.

As results distributors, our job doesn't really start until an event finishes, so most of the time we were sat in the porto cabin watching the race on TV or in the Aquatics Centre watching it live. As Games Makers we were allowed to just walk into the arena and take any available seat.

I spent a lot of time just chilling out and chatting with Matthew. In all honesty, out of all the team members, I get along with Matthew the best. The other members on our team like to joke that we're dating...but we're not; he already has a girlfriend and seems perfectly happy. Besides, I don't like him in that way, and I don't think I ever could. He talks too much about himself far too much. How could I be with someone so narcissistic?

"Hey you two" Graeme said, interrupting our chat. "You want to go back out and distribute some more results for us"

"YES!" Matthew screamed with excitement, he quickly took the papers from Graeme's hands "and hey, maybe I could find Lozzie a boyfriend on the way back" he joked.

"Enough with this 'trying to find me a boyfriend' malarkey" I protested. "I will find the right guy eventually"

"So where are these heading to?" Matthew asked.
