*Madelyn's POV*
I was burning with fury as I hopped into the car. I decided to sit up front with mom so we could talk. Mom got into the driver's seat, closed the door, and lost it. She rested her head on the steering wheel, and bit her lip as tears streamed down her face. Carly leaned up and rubbed my mom on the back, and I just sat there, staring out the window. Dad was looking back at me from his front window, and waved, trying to smile.
All I did was send him a death glare and turn back to my mom. I couldn't stand seeing her cry, but I didn't know what to do. Then something I was always told by Mrs. Schwartz, a cure for sadness is a hug, no words. Without any sound, I hugged my mother, and she accepted it. A few minutes later, she had finally stopped and sat up. She turned the keys in the ignition...and drove away from dad.
An awkward silence filled the car as we drove down the silent road. I could see mom's tearstained face in the sunlight, and she was still sniffling.
"I can't believe he'd do that to us," Carly said, looking down at her hands with a disapproving look.
Mom nodded, and said,
"I'm sorry it has to be like this girls, I know he is your dad. He still loves you, but I really don't trust him. He broke my heart with what I saw. I'll still let you guys see the team, unless they've dropped on us too."
Carly and I nodded understandingly, and I turned on the radio to knock away the tension in the car. Little Mix came on, and I couldn't help but sing along. It was How Ya' Doin, one of my favorites. Everyone said I had a terrific voice, but I didn't hear it at all. When I had finished with the song, mom looked flabbergasted.
"Wow Maddie, you can sing like a superstar!" mom exclaimed, and all I could do was smile.
